brilliant
Greenhouses are the way
geothermal in a green house is amazing it looks like...heating and cooling!

A dude I know near salem has a huge greenhouse...totally tropical inside the houses and they have 20 foot avocado trees that produce year around...and tons of citrus trees and various tropical fruits and veggies...and they don't even use geothermal.

wonder what latitude he is at exactly

I wanna be that old guy...next mission is large property to put up a few of those.

I was wondering why he said that.
He said mean temp is 52° , I was trying to figure out why latitude mattered more than altitide considering Nebraska is pretty much high @ flat, no.
I really didn't think any latitude would change the average temperature more than 5° @ 8' down, but maybe a few degrees is what makes the difference between oranges & no oranges?

angle of sun I think
He is a bit lower than oregon in latitude...so he has more of a high sun during winter and summer.

you are up in the 47 degree range
I am like 42 degrees

nebraska is 40-43 degrees

Fucking brilliant man...thanks for the video...I will be doing exactly this someday, hopefully sooner than later

sending this video to all my green thumb buddies and family

Recently had a final on geothermal, then moved on to other classes and got bogged down.
This actually excites me, like, I like it.
Everywhere I look I'm looking how to utilize ponds, wind, water, earth shelter....

Did you ever check out KVR's homesteading forum?

yep I love that forum and his content
I love this stuff, gardening is some very rewarding work

My parents have an amazing small greenhouse...the food production is impressive.

I love to do manual labor and physical stuff...this would be so satisfying for people inclined to that

Nothing beats food you grew, I would love to be a local farmer cutting out the long chain of transportation.
Cut the middle man right out.

Would love to build 1 2 3 of these bad boys.

showed this to my pops
He loved it and watched it twice
he is thinking about building one

problem is he isn't in full sun all day long because he is on a east facing Hillside

Having your own citrus supply is very interesting to me

Crucial I'd say.
I know a guy who lives in that eastern side of the Cascades cold plains weather.
Indoors he's got a pile of lemon trees.
They're wonderful.

that sounds great

My dad needs a hobby so I will tell him to go for it

cumquat, orange, lemon...maybe even avocado...and you could flower cannabis in there to full maturity instead of the NW cold and rain ruining the crop

Probably a shit ton of other crops that you could grow that would be cool

I know a guy with a non heated greenhouse in Salem that has year round avocados, along with hundreds of other good shit.

I always thought my green thumb would revolve around drugs.
Now it revolves around antidotes...
