Bayer donates 3 million tablets of investigational coronavirus drug Resochin to the US
federal agencies continue to investigate possible treatment options for the novel coronavirus, pharmaceutical company Bayer announced on Thursday that it is donating 3 million tablets of its antimalarial drug chloroquine phosphate to the US government.

Sharing details first with CNN, Bayer said in a statement that chloroquine phosphate, sold under the name Resochin, originally has been indicated for the prevention and treatment of malaria, but also appears to have “broad spectrum antiviral properties” and effects on the body’s immune response.

“New data from initial preclinical and evolving clinical research conducted in China, while limited, shows potential for the use of Resochin in treating patients with COVID-19 infection,” the statement said.

Did your 8 year old niece leave her CDs in the sauna?
Yes and no. Last time she was in the sauna he told her a joke. He asked her if she wanted some free cd's, to which she replied yes, so meisha dropped the towel grabbed his junk and said see deez nuts!

Great joke, just poor execution, and she hasn't been back to the sauna since.

Hobby Lobby:

850 stores in 46 states
37,500 employees

Dude is worth $6.4 billion

He could pay each of his employees $1000 a week for the next 3 months out of his own pocket and still be worth $5.95 billion.

I realize he isn't $6.4 billion in liquid funds, but to suggest his $15/hr folks "tighten their belts"? And then hide behind a religious message while he's at it?

Fucking scumbag.

Why would he pay them substantially more than typical wages to not work? Assuming employees are on full time schedules of 40 hours per week, at $15 per hour they would be making $600 before taxes. You're suggesting while he is out of business he give them a 60% raise?

I just picked $1000 as an example to show how much money $6.4 billion dollars is.

The gov't was talking about $1000 stimulus for folks. Felt like a nice number to use.

Because let’s face it, the difference between 5.95 and 6.4 billion means nothing to someone who has that much money. It won’t make a lick of difference to that guys life. It’s like you or me giving away 1 dollar instead of 60 cents. (Actually it would be more like giving away 1 cent vs .60 of a cent.)

Due to the market slump and dump, would it be accurate to say this dude may be worth 35% less than whatever is stated by online sources tracking what they deem as people's net worth? You may counter that with he is still a billionnaire, but based the on uncertainty of the immediate future, this may be a business the owner decides to scrap.

If established full time employees have been laid off, they can file for unemployment, and the company will have to pay them for around 6 months.

I don't like the argument. Where do you draw the line on what is relevant to a person or company's assests?

Please see above post in reference to market volitility and drop in net worth as well.

The company doesn't pay unemployment dollars. All companies pay unemployment insurance taxes throughout the year to the gov't, then the gov't pays that money out to people that meet the criteria for unemployment.

You are correct, he can do whatever he wants with his money and his company.
But that message was a touch pathetic. Talking religion and lumping himself in with the $15/hr folks is laughable.
