Even though he's a piece of shit, the befuddled, upper class clown character he carefully cultivates is actually pretty effective. You can catch yourself liking him for a moment before your brain kicks in to gear. Nobody wants to see a jester die.
And simply, it would not be good at all for morale. We could see a lot of panic if someone that powerful and (relatively) young were to die. So let's hope he recovers.

I didn't use to give him any credit. I just called him a stammering buffoon who had no talent.
But I was wrong. While he's still a stammering buffoon, he is a crafty politician. I have no doubt he largely orchestrated the repeated NO votes of Theresa May's Brexit withdrawal deal only so he could pass the almost exact same deal once he became PM. And it worked.
And he also deserves credit for the last election. He made it all about Brexit and he won, despite the fact that the Tories had been embarrassed only 18 months prior by the same voters.
He's still a fuckwad. I will still always dislike him. But he's not the complete idiot I once thought he was, and yes I hope he makes a complete recovery.
