Dana White says a rematch between Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm makes sense

.
“The rematch makes a lot of sense,” White said. “I think the rematch is what people would want to see.”

Holm agrees...
“I think a rematch makes sense for sure,” Holm said in the post-fight press conference. “I’ve been on the losing side of a fight, and I wanted the rematch, I wanted to avenge my loss. With a champion like Ronda who has gone out of her way – above and beyond – to do great things, absolutely, she deserves a rematch. I don’t look at this belt and think I’ve made it. I think I still have things that I need to do.

“I think a rematch – that’s just kind of unspoken, just common sense to me, I guess.”

Makes sense for who? Ronda needs to start all over, different camp no yes men around. Needs to work on that stand up. Hopefully she looks at her team and trims away the fat. Some time off might help.

Yep. Holm really made Ronda look like an amateur fighter, far farrrrrr from the greatest female fighter on the planet. Holm looked to be that girl last night. Perfect gameplan/movement.

Similar to how Dillashaw came in short notice and dismantled an indestructable Barao.

Does it really make sense though? That was a one sided beating & Ronda looked like she's miles away from Holm's skill level.

It doesn't. Real close matches deserve immediate rematch. This was lop sided in hollys favor. God I was smiling from start to finish. Haven't screamed at an MMA fight like that in a while.

Dominant champions who lose their titles always get rematches. AS got KTFO and got a rematch. GSP got KO'd and he got a rematch. Cain got KO'd and he got a rematch. Barao was KO'd and got a rematch. Nobody complained because it's expected even champions are going to have a bad fight at some point and deserve a chance to redeem themselves.

Makes sense for the ufc to try and get one last big PPV out of her. She got worked and destroyed, it doesn't make sense as far as actual fights go. Let her fight Cyborg to earn a title shot.

That's cool as I wasn't arguing against what actually happens, just stating what I think should happen. Also, I was complaining when they got immediate matches after a lopsided beating. This wasn't a "bad night" for Rousey. She just got outclassed and exposed as a mediocre striker at best.

The egg of greed would of course think so.

Think of how he pushed Anderson into a Weidman rematch...

THey only think of the biggest cash grab...

they do it to a lot of champs, like Narcosynthesis @Cerberus said, hoping to cash in. it stops up divisions all the time, and people seem to hate that. i think ex champs need one test before another shot is earned. it keeps things moving.

I guess Holm exposed Ronda's mediocre grappling and judo as well. It certainly couldn't have been a combination of Ronda having a "bad night" and Holm having the perfect game plan.

Ronda needs to move to a new training camp and take another fight before getting back in there with Holm. She was outclassed and clearly needs to work on a few things.

When you get tagged repeatedly and hurt...Yeah, It will throw the rest of your game off. She didn't have a bad night...She got rocked. From start to finish, and it was amazing.

GSP didn't get a rematch right after getting KO'd. Neither did Cain.

Rematch would be unwise. Ronda would benefit from a new camp yes. But also Holms was a striking champion. She has had a lifetime of striking and movement to get that good. Ronda's ego was a problem, the last few fights shes wanted to stand and wang same way Cormier has. Her game plan was shit and her striking was shit. Ronda would get smashed again if they rematch straight away. I'd rather see Meisha fight Holms for now.

Immediate rematch won't be good for Ronda's career, way too short a period to fix the problems Holm has exposed.

It would also be damn unfair to Holm as Ronda has been very clear that she's taking a break for a bit. Immediate rematch means the new champ doesn't get paid for fighting any time soon. The only person it benefits is the fighter that can go off and make high profile movies and that isn't the 135lb womens bantamweight champion of the world.

Here's hoping the UFC doesn't do what they've done with heavyweight and basically pause the division for at least 9 months between title fights. Not to mention the possibility of an injury delaying the fight even longer.

I think a rematch makes sense based on how there aren't any strong contenders for the belt and given the dominance of Ronda's reign.

You would think after what happened to Anderson and Barao that Dana would know by now that an immediate rematch is not the recipe for success when the champ loses in that fashion.

It's was a poor game plan and Ronda was gassing after the first minute of the fight. I believe it was just a bad night. It reminded me of Cain versus Werdum and Cain being unable to do anything he's known for. Maybe they lose any way, even on their best nights but recently there have been 3 fights where the champion just looked completely out of it, from start to finish - Pettis/Dos Anjos, Cain/Werdum and Ronda/Holm. All of those fights were just bizarre.
