Despite her one-sided loss to Holly Holm on Saturday in arguably the biggest upset in MMA history, Ronda Rousey still opened as the betting favorite in the potential 2016 rematch.

The line on Rousey (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) opened at -300, making her a 3-1 favorite, with Holm (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) as a +250 underdog. But those numbers quickly shifted with plenty of money coming in on Holm’s side – enough to drop Rousey to as low as about a -140 favorite as of Monday night according to numbers published at Best Fight Odds.

I still have people going off on FB about how she'll beat Holly in a rematch. We must not have watched the same fight. I literally won $200 from one guy and it still wasn't enough for him to realize she got exposed.

People seem to forget that despite everything, Ronda took Holly down and had her back, but went for the armbar and lost it. She could have cemented position on her back and gone for the RNC, or flatten her out and rain bombs. Obviously no guarantee, but if you are counting Rousey out of a rematch, then you are making the same mistake I did with Holm this weekend.

Not counting Ronda out at all, but in no way should she be the favorite.

Anywho, money to be made. Ronda going to go into this one smarter, but Holly's use of range and movement seemingly has Ronda's number.

Though fighters improve all the time, so should be fun.

I think the betting line assumed there is a lot of Ronda fans that would put money on her still. Maybe they are right. Betting lines aren't solely about who is most likely to win.

Holly didnt look that good in her previous fights. Was it the one off Matt Serra miracle or does Holly have her number like Frankie had BJs? Thats why they get in cage. Wmma was pretty stale until this so its a good thing. I think Rhonda should be favorite for now but lets see how this plays out in her personal life.

Wait. So it's a done deal already?
I think the standard procedure is that places will take bets on a expected fight, but if it doesn't happen within a year, then the bet is void. After that a new line might be opened.

Broski Serra got off a punch, Holm was taxing that ass from the get go. She will wreck Ronda all day every day based on what we saw.

Let's see RR in a camp that can actually teach her something she doesn't already know. The thing is, in terms of fundamentals, how far ahead is HH? It looked like there was a very large disparity between the two and RR didn't know what to do or even have a sniff of any thing other than a bull-rush strategy. Can she shore up her footwork and striking game to allow her to implement her ground game against someone of HH's caliber?

I don't know but it does seem unlikely.

I agree with this... We always teach position before submission. This is a case where Ronda believed her own hype, she wanted another armbar finish and went for it resulting in position loss. I've seen it in MMA fights and BJJ tournaments, people trying to go for their "signature moves", and more often than not it results in situations like what happened to Ronda.

She should have flattened Holly out and worked her GnP into a RNC. This shows me that as dominant as Ronda has been with her throws and armbar finishes, she still needs a lot of work on her grappling too (which is crazy to say)

I think it is more than just believing her own hype, but that Rousey is a sprint grappler on the ground due to the time limit that Judo enforces on newaza. She banks on her ability to take someone down over and over, so if she doesn't get the sub straight away, she can try again next time.

However, that isn't always going to be the case, as Holly showed, so you are right there are things she can work on as a grappler. Namely patience, positional control, and perhaps blending GNP with her grappling skills.

I honestly think Rousey looses in a very similar way in the rematch. Holm is honestly just too much

It must be a conspiracy! Those same conspirators had Silva as a -225 favorite in his second fight against Weidman! Didn't they watch the first fight when he didn't do anything but land a couple of weak leg kicks before getting brutally KTFO!!!!111!!1 This is CRazzzaY!!

I saw glaring holes in Holm skillset. One thing you don't do is chase Holm around. It's stupid..stupid...stupid. Just like it was always stupid when fighters did that with Silva.

One of the main things Holm does that's eventually going to cost her is she stands straight up when throwing strikes just like she learned to do all those years boxing. That means she's susceptible to wrestlers shooting in for take downs. I've never seen Ronda shoot for a take down because she's always relied on her clinch work and judo but it's hard to completely grab a hold of an opponent that only stops when they are throwing a strike. If an opponent timed it right, Holm could be taken down with little effort.

I've always believed Holm is a match up nightmare for just about anyone at 135 but she's beatable. Everyone has weaknesses.

I'm torn as I really like both of these fighters.

IMO...it seemed as if RR had lost her focus a little bit during this camp. If she takes this lost gracefully and seeks to focus on improving her areas of weakness (especially now that she has been reminded that WE ALL have them) she could very well come back and beat HH in a rematch.

On the flip side, you NEVER underestimate a champion boxer of any kind lol (especially an undefeated one). As long as HH stays true to who she is and continues to always be better, she will win again hands down.

In a rematch, I would ideally like to see some more ground action though (but maybe that's just because that's where I like to play lol)

Well then, maybe it's time to make some easy money by betting in holly. I just don't see her losing
