Umm, he's avoiding the division he's champion in, so he can fight a guy who just soundly beat him with no camp, and will likely beat him worse with 6-8 weeks to prepare. I'm not at all quick to call a guy out for ducking, because fighting is as much strategy outside of the cage as it is in, but this is textbook ducking 101.
I mean he was originally supposed to fight RDS who I personally think is a much tougher fight than Frankie.

I'd much rather this to be sport than spectacle though in this situation. Nothing wrong with that from time to time, but the championships should be about sport imo. The sporting thing to do would be to fight the #1 contender.
As a fan I'm totally on board with this. But from the fighter's perspective, I just can't blame anyone for taking the $$ route above all else. It's the UFC's fault in the end, anyway, IMO. Carnival org gonna carnival.

Unless Conor implodes as a fighter, or breaks down from injuries, we're probably going to see all these matchups we want over the next 1-2 years. RDA, Frankie, all those fights. I dislike the randomness and the jagged lines of the journey, but I think we'll see the fights we want eventually.

I wouldn't hazard a guess what Conor is doing, after that idiotic move of going up two weight classes to fight a larger mid-carder who lost 3 of his last 5 in a meaningless fight. Then, after blowing his invincible aura, instead of writing off the fight as a freak show fluke, he does it again.
I agree. His invincible aura was helping him beat guys before they ever got in the cage. He took a huge risk fighting Nate the first time. He had everything to lose and not much to gain other than a warmup for 155 lbs. Now that he's lost, and the way that he lost, his aura is gone and his stock is down.

I would think he would go back to the division that made him a superstar and defend the belt. Maybe give Aldo his rematch and hopefully land another KO to get his mystique back. Instead, he's chasing the one that got away by fighting Diaz again. While also causing a log jam at 145. Its admirable to fight the bigger man, but in his case, it makes no sense to me.

Nate was a bigger money fight than anybody else willing to step up. Conor made huge amounts of cash fighting Nate---there's not much to figure out here. It was either fight Nate for big $$, take another fight (like Frankie) for much less, or sit out and wait for RDA for 2+ months.

Sitting out didn't appeal to Conor, since he'd already trained and was ready to go. So he was going to fight. The question for him was all about who would help him sell the most PPV's, and that was Nate. Simple as that.

and pull in half the buys
3 things

1) That's factually incorrect.
2) Not sure how you quantify that statement. He hasn't been on a ppv as champion.
3) The idea of generated revenue isn't germane to whether or not Conor is ducking. If anything the idea that he's riding the money train would make ducking more likely, not less.

Who exactly do you think is holding up the division? The guy that said right after his last fight that he wanted to go back down and defend his 145-lb belt, or the bosses who are interested only in selling more PPV's and putting on a huge card for UFC 200?
I'm going to take Conor at his word, and believe it's him holding things up.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion. To me Edgar is the tougher fight stylistically because he's less likely to want to stand and strike which seems to be RDA's preference as of late. A lot like a 155 lbs Aldo, where Edgar is a better version of the guy who almost put him away in his interim title fight.

As my homosexual boss once famously said "You can't suck and blow at the same time."

He says he calls the shots, but all of a sudden when it's not good for his look he doesn't anymore?
Dana and Lorenzo: Conor, what do you want to do?

Conor: I want to defend my belt.

Dana and Lorenzo: You'll make more money if you fight Nate again. And you can keep your belt, don't worry.

Conor: I want to fight Nate again.

I actually found a surveillance photo from that interaction.
