I'm not saying that you're clueless when I comes to motorcycles but to think a Sportster 883 is a man's bike or is built for tough guys is way off. That's what manlets and women purchase for the most part. Those full dresser bikes are awesome.
sonny barger and chuck zito both ride sportsters

for some reason I followed one of these links - I'm not into motorcycles at all - and it looks like all the true bikers agree that the guys who think that one is a girl's bike are posers and an embarassment to the motorcycle community.

now that's a twist.

Sonny Barger is old school legit but Chuck Zito is a wanna be that doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Sonny.

Chuck Zito is just another Frank Dux

Fuck all of them. Ride one and see how "dorky" it feels.

I think you misread what he said. He said that "bikers" who make fun of guys on Sportsters are idiots, and shunned by the majority of the bike community. I am not a fan of HD products, but if someone held me at gunpoint and told me to purchase one, I'd get the new 500cc cafe cruiser, or a solid black 883.

I got it. I'm just being extra salty. Those are the ones who ruin all the fun.

Now we're talking business.

Agreed. Rode a Yamaha R1 one time. Felt like I was steering a tank. lol
I almost crashed my father's Goldwing 1300, and when I went to move his 1800 out of the garage, I COULDN'T FUCKING TURN IT AROUND. I had to start it, drive it down the driveway and turn in the street, then back up. WTF, gigantic boats. I'm 6-0, 210. Any bike I can't easily walk around a driveway is too fucking big.

Fuck it, since I feel like sharing: Here's my 1983 Yamaha Virago 750. I was trying to find something from the mid-70's or older, but fuck if there are any quality Japanese bikes in the south. I drove two hours to look at/pick up an old Honda CB 160, and when I showed the guy was like, "Oh, sorry bo, I sold er yesterday." I've replaced the ugly rear-view mirrors since this photo, and have new bullet rear turns on the way. I wear a solid black full-face helmet similar to the one pictured above, and always black leather gloves.

I rode a 50cc off road look a like once when I was 15. Never ridden a motorbike before and went flat out on some gravel. Couple hundred metres later fell off and shredded my knee to pieces on the foot peg.

Never been on one since.

I agree and disagree at the same time. Dudes with 883's are widely made fun of where I live. However, the full dresser bikes can suck my balls. If you want to ride like a man, this is the best option:

I believe Cowboy was sponsored by them at one time? Maybe the UFC will only show him on a Harley with Heebok shit.

As for his dorky helmet. I give him a pass. All the open face helmets look ridiculous in my opinion. Luckily I live in one of the few states that let us ride with no helmets, at least for now. We are legally allowed to ride in the open wind with no protection, but we have to wear stupid ass seat belts.

Love that bike. My dad was a life time Harley guy and at age 59 I convinced him to try Japanese. For his 60th he bought himself a 2010 Hayabusa with Yosh pipes lol. That bike is an amazing ride, tons of power with good comfort and if you're into carrying a passenger it's ok.

I see the point about helmets but I'd probably never ride without a full face or close to it regardless of any laws. I can't understand why anybody would choose to not wear a helmet.

Your dad converting at 60 is awesome! Good for him! They are a great ride. I have never been into wearing helmets, but I am older now. I sold my last bike 4-5 years ago. I definitely didn't ride it like I did when I was young. I am much more conservative now. If I were to ever get another one I would consider wearing a helmet for long rides only.
