Since Johnson’s first-round KO of Dustin Poirier last night, the lightweight prospect has already been called out by Anthony Pettis.

Michael Johnson made a serious statement at UFC Fight Night 94 on Saturday night.

Following a nine-month hiatus, ‘The Menace’ returned to form with a first-round knockout of No. 7 ranked lightweight Dustin Poirier in the main event, scoring his first KO since 2013 against Gleison Tibau.

Johnson, who joins Conor McGregor as the second fighter to finish ‘The Diamond’ with strikes, is likely to break into the top-5 with the win and has already been targeted by former lightweight champion, Anthony Pettis.

I thought Pettis was going to stay at FW? I'm hoping to see Pettis vs Aldo.

I like Pettis, but I would like to see at least one more top ten FW win before he gets Aldo.
I wouldn't argue either way. Who would you think is a match up and could get Pettis into a position to fight Jose?

Just looked at the rankings and Holloway, Lamas, and Swanson are all ranked above him, so any of them.

If he were to be given additional matchups before title contention, out of the top ten would be fine. Considering the weaknesses he's shown recently, I would consider a victory over Elkins to be meaningful.

And just because of style and fun, I wouldn't mind Yair Rodriguez.

So he's willing to go back up to fight Johnson? Not a good matchup, Johnson's a pressure fighter with good hands and wrestling. That's the perfect recipe to beat pettis, I'd rather he stay at 145 and fight cubby samson

Max Holloway.
Perfect. I give Pettis credit, he called out a too FW but called out a low ranked LW. He knows at FW he could go to the top quick because of his LW past but called out a low ranked LW because of his recent LW run. Not delusional which is rare lol

FW Pettis is much more interesting to me than LW Pettis at this time. I wonder if the cut is too much for him to fully commit.
