Earlier this month, Cris Cyborg appeared on FOX Sports 1's Speak for Yourself and openly questioned whether the UFC would get behind her more if she had "blonde hair and blue eyes," speculating that her ethnicity and her physical appearance played a part in the UFC's hesitation to push her as a star and adopt a women's featherweight division.

This past week, UFC president Dana White appeared on the very same program and directly addressed those comments, answering point-blank whether Cyborg's looks played a role in the dominant Invicta FC featherweight champion not receiving a bigger push from the UFC.

"Let me ask you a question: what makes somebody a star?" White said. "What has been done with Ronda (Rousey) that hasn't been done with Cyborg, as far as being a star? Ronda is a world champion, had the belt and everything else. We don't have a belt in that (featherweight) division. We don't have that weight division for Cyborg ... because there aren't enough good women at 145 pounds to create an entire division."

"I actually run the business, I actually know what's going on. She can say it's B.S. (that there aren't enough women). I actually know."

Cyborg has since doubled down in her efforts to have the UFC either institute a women's featherweight division or set up a blockbuster superfight against Ronda Rousey.

"Ronda Rousey makes a lot of money," White said. "She gets a lot of attention. She's doing movies. She has all kinds of other sponsorship deals and all these other things outside of the Octagon too. And listen, other people look at them and say, ‘hey, I should have that too. Why do I not have that too?' And of course, that's my fault. You know what I mean? That's my fault because it's not happening.

"But the reality is this: Cris Cyborg is devastatingly good," White continued. "She's been destroying everybody right now. Her popularity is actually starting to go [up]. She's getting bigger. Everybody wants it right here, right now. It doesn't happen that way. I promise you this, Ronda has to come in and fight on December 30th. Okay? Ronda has to win, and the girl that she's fighting is no pushover. She's nasty and tough and Ronda's got a fight on her hands there.

"She wins that fight, her and Cris Cyborg are eventually going to fight. Ronda wants that fight. It will be the biggest pay-per-view in UFC history."

The idea that there aren't enough 145 lb female fighters doesn't really wash. There are plenty of women at 135 who would rather be at 145. This is a case of if you build it they will come just like 135 which was pretty pathetic for several years until recently. Here are a few fighters worth considering.

Pillaging the 135 division to get some semblance of a 145 makes no sense at all. It gives you two weak divisions.

The real reason there's no 145 division is that Cyborg doesn't have super model looks. Case closed, end of story. There was no 135 division either, and they snapped their fingers and started one for Ronda.

ronda meisha holly and cat would all be fighting at 145 if there wasnt this monster waiting to punch their pretty little faces in waiting for them there.the ufc could have created whatever classes they wanted when they brought in wmma.they chose to build around ronda and not around cris because ronda looks like a woman and cris looks like wandy.it would have been tough to market wmma at first if every fight was a bloodbath with one huge savage smashing in girls faces.no one wanted to see that.

About a year ago Cyborg was campaigning to fight in the UFC, which there was no weight division for her. The UFC let her fight in her hometown at a catch weight. The she's given another fight in the UFC. Yeah, people want to see her fight Ronda, but what happens after that? She's constantly complaining about something.

And Cyborg would be fighting at 175 lbs if she fought at her walk around weight. Why is it ok for Cyborg to cut 30 lbs to fight at 145 lbs but women cutting 10 lbs are ducking.

The real reason is because the 145 lb division is weak as fuck and all the top ranked 145ers have been beaten by 135ers.

P.s. end of story

Nobody relevant fighting at 135 will choose to fight at their walk around weight. It's stupid, especially when you have fighters like Cyborg cutting 30 lbs to make the weight. Cyborg weighs 165 lbs on fight night for her 140 lb catch weights.

Yea let's analyze the top 10 fighters at 145 lbs.

1. Cyborg - I challenge anyone to name her top 5 wins. It's impossible without laughing.

2. Coenen - Got choked out by Miesha, lost to Roxanne Modafferi (a fighter with a 19-13 record) and lost to Cindy Dandois. All 135ers.

3. Julia Budd - Got her arm broken by Ronda in 39 and got knocked the fuck out by Nunes in 14 seconds. Both 135ers.

4. Tweet - Lost to Ronda in 49 seconds in Ronda's 2nd pro fight. Another case of a huge 145er losing to a 135er.

5. Arlene Blencowe - 7-5 record

6. Alexis Dufresne - A huge 145er who weighed 150 lbs for her last fight. She lost to Marion Reneau, a 135er. Also lost to Dara Moras, another 135er who could be fighting at 125 lbs.

7. Megan Anderson - Here we go. A decent prospect but with only 3 years of mma experience and no background in any martial art. She's already lost to Cindy Dandois, a 135er.

8. Latoya Walker - a 37 year old soccer mom who took up mma

9. Daria Ibragimova - Lost to 135er Cindy Dandios and heat bunch of nobodies in Europe before becoming a humnan puncing bag for Cyborg.

10. Amanda Bell - A 3-4 record and ranked 10th in the entire world at 145 lbs. That sums up the division perfectly.

None of these ranked fighters are considered good to fill a division. Most of them are old and on the way out and more than half of them have losses to 135ers. You basically have Cyborg and a bunch of tomato cans.

Back in 2011 the UFC had purchased strikeforce and were deciding what to do with the women's divisions. The UFC was seriously contemplating trash canning the 145 lb division due to a lack of quality fighters. This was before Cyborg disgraced wmma by getting caught using steroids. The UFC asked Ronda and Cyborg to drop down to 135 lbs. Ronda did it. Cyborg said she could but never did. In the last 5 years nothing has changed. The division is still shallow and meaningless.

Oh you can't refute anything I say so you resort to insulting. I'll take the win.

Also, how many times have you posted in Ronda and Cyborg threads? You think you're the only one with something to say?

ronda is only 135 because she has to be.she is a big woman
Same size as Miesha. Is Miesha a big woman too? Holly, who walks around over 160 lbs, is big for the 135 lb division. Ronda is between 148-152 lbs. Not big. Try again. Oh and pictures without perspective mean nothing.
