I didn't see one thread on sherdog or the ug bashing Holly that could hold a candle to the epic shop and romo threads that were made after rondas loss. Sure there were a few about how she was never that great in the first place but that crap always happens. That's what happens when you treat your opponents with respect and take the loss with humility.

The incredible hostility towards Ronda was in direct correlation with her attitude. And, in my opinion well deserved. Karma can be a real bitch.
The only two I can think of who received that kind of hate and romoshop treatment were Conor after Diaz 1 and Bisping after Hendo 1.

God damn were there some great romoshops of Bisping

What's disappointing is someone calling a professional fighter, who won the UFC title and an Olympic medal, a coward if she decides not to fight again. What does that make you?
I never called her a coward .. I said she would have been and people like you would find another excuse to put her down.
Don't you dare compare her to Miesha Tate . I wouldn't be shocked if she blows Amanda's brains out in the first round..
What Conor did to Eddie , Ronda will do to Amanda but even worse.

I know what you said. I disagreed and found it absurd that a guy who chooses not to fight could call a pro fighter a coward for choosing not to fight.

So a fighter who gives up after one loss isn't a coward then what else would you call them? If you keep on losing and then give up then you are not one. Maybe not a coward but some other word but you know what i mean , someone who is afraid to lose again.

Well it depends on their reason for choosing not to fight but coward is the wrong term. There is nothing cowardly about choosing not to compete MMA.

whats the word you will give someone who is scared to lose ? you are not supposed to be a sports man if you run away from competition unless its injury or something major.. Now Ronda may have some psychological barriers and I am sure she will overcome it within 2 mins of the fight ..

And Conor faced the music like a champ, came back better and has won more fans by doing so. That's how you rebound from a hard loss.

I'm truly concerned for Ronda in this fight, i'm basing my opinion off of the technical merits of both combatants. Amanda is a far superior technical and power striker than Ronda, the last fighter Ronda faced who had better striking was Holly and... Yeah.

Ronda has far better takedowns and throws, however Amanda is far superior in her Jiu Jitsu. To my knowledge, Ronda has yet to face a legitimate black belt who also has dangerous striking..... Has she faced any black belts? Amanda has competed against legit competition in the BJJ community, and trains with some awesome grapplers in Coconut Creek..... If Ronda gets the fight to the ground, Amanda won't be lost like the other people Ronda has faced.

The X factor/wildcard.... Mentally Amanda is tough, she's ready to go to war and has a nasty streak..... Ronda use to have that, but by all reports, that Ronda is far gone. Her aura of invincibility has been shattered and while she may get that back, she's across the cage from her one of the two most destructive woman in fighting (Cyborg being the first, and I put Nunes a step ahead of JJ just on her brutality).

This isn't the fight Ronda should have taken returning after a year off, riddled with numerous reports of her fragile mental state...... Unfortunately for a fighter of her magnitude, this was one of the only fights for her to take (outside of a rematch with Holly or the Cyborg fight).

Good post, I agree with most points.

Ronda faced Alexis Davis who I believe was her first opponent with a BB in Japanese and BJJ. She trains with Caio Terra BJJ , Combat Sports Academy, Flavio Meier bjj according to Wiki.

Amanda is a brown belt in judo and a BB BJJ plus has the striking you mentioned. Another thing I'm seeing that every opponent Ronda has faced (according to Wiki) is >5'6" with exception of Holly and now Nunes who are listed as 5'8". With Amanda having the striking advantage like Holm's along with that same height (assuming reach will at least be close) this should help her keep Ronda at arms length. Holly found a way to stuff that clinch game and even take Rousey down and Nunes seems to have a better judo amd bjj game. If Nunesormer is smart they'll try to imminent a very similar game plan as Holly did and get Ronda chasing and omer committing. I can see Ronda not taking the bait for a while but Amanda is dangerous of her opponent is hesitant or backing up, very interesting match up here.

Holly is a counter puncher and Amanda goes forward , that makes a make difference . Moving forward means easier take downs for Ronda and we all know what Ronda is capable of when the fight goes on the mat. Ronda's grappling is far more superior .

Yes Holly is a good counterstriker, however Amanda is pretty accurate with her striking, she not a "throw flailing punches" kind of striker. I agree that (and stated prior) that Ronda has far superior throws and takedowns, but her being a superior grappler compared to Amanda is not true. (Amanda flows from position to position better, where as Ronda uses that judoka top smash position where she tries to use the scarf hold to help set up her armbar attacks).

Amanda's technique is horrible. Her foot placement is all wrong. She's not turning her hips. It's mostly arm punches like, Cyborg. She's throwing everything as hard as she can and I guess it works, when it works but she's far from a technical striker. She's in for a world of hurt if she bum rushes Ronda like that.
