I've been struggling with this for a few years. Ever since the whole "Chuck Norris is the baddest man on earth" memes kicked off, I've had an irrational hatred of Chuck. To me he represents everything that is public misperceptions of martial arts etc etc. I also thought Walker, Texas Ranger was an abomination.

But none of this makes sense. I love Bruce Lee and Chuck, unlike Bruce, was an actual competitive fighter. Chuck also legit trained in BJJ and helped the Machados get established in the US. He also was in awesome films like Delta Force. There really is no reason for me to hate on Chuck!

But one more "Death is afraid of Chuck Norris" crack and I'm like

Funny you mention this.
He was on my plane a couple weeks ago on his birthday.

Bruce Lee rolled him up.
Way of the Dragon was a documentary.

In my mind, there are 2 Chucks.
Pre-Walker Texas Ranger Chuck & Post Walker Texas Ranger Chuck.

The former was one of my idols.
Latter is a senile old coot.

If one more person tries to tell me there's a fist behind Chuck Norris's beard I'm gonna slap them.

You're normally a rational person. That's the effect Chuck Norris has on people. Without even trying.

Don't know if I'd go so far as to say I hate him, but as an MMA fan I find the reverence people hold for him to be cringeworthy. He represents the pinnacle of martial arts...30 years ago. He, JCVD, and Seagal represent the world's pre-UFC view of martial arts. That's not to say any of them don't have martial arts backgrounds, but them in their primes are beaten down by pretty much any current top 15 UFC fighter. Prime Chuck Norris gets lit the fuck up by Mighty Mouse

There are 2 guys worthy of the reverence Chuck Norris seems to garner. 1) Renzo Gracie 2) Bas Rutten.

Special mention to this movie.
Just for the title.
And the awesome kick through the windshield!
I fucking loved Chuck in the 80s.

If you unscramble Walker Texas Ranger, you can spell Karate Wrangler Sex. That's not mere coincidence.

I was never a fan of Chuck Norris. I attempted to watch Texas Walker Ranger with my mom once, but it was so horrible I just couldn't do it.

That said, the Chuck Norris sayings crack me the fuck up.

Chuck Norris was bitten by a cobra and after five days of excruciating pain... the cobra died.
Chuck Norris knows Victoria's secret.
When Chuck Norris swims in the ocean, the sharks are in a steel cage.
Chuck Norris doesn't breathe air. He holds air hostage
Chuck Norris has already been to Mars. That's why there are no signs of life.
Chuck Norris does not sleep; he waits.
Chuck Norris will never have a heart attack. His heart isn't nearly foolish enough to attack him.

He can slam a revolving door is my favorite.

That may have to do with the fact that I am a Chicagoan, and nothing makes me laugh harder that Southerners or Westies who come to the city and try to fit 3 of them into the door and can barely move. That shit is fucking hysterical.

I liked his movies.

In the 80s, when I was a kid, and very fond of mindless/weak plot/shitty acting violent movies.

Texas walker sucked ass. The only redeeming feature was Ron Jeremy if I recall correctly.
I can't careless about his martial arts career either.
And I'm getting tired of those Chuck Norris jokes.
