I would never suggest that. Just giving you a heads up. The amp modeling itself works really well.
Oh, so you are saying they limit the amount of devices you can download it to? I'd only be using it on 1 or 2 devices, so no worries there.

What about the recording capabilities?

Yea when behringer bought out this German mic pre amp company midas their interfaces got way better
I use a Behringer FCA610 as my main interface. Got it super cheap off Amazon on Black Friday a few years ago. Haven't done anything other than simple voice-over edits the past few years though. Need to start up a new project.

I have an HD iRig
That's what I just bought. An iRig HD2 interface. It was $100, but it comes with the Amplitube 4 software which has an 8 track DAW/recorder.

If nothing else, this gets my feet wet in the world of digital recording. I'll report back when I get my hands on it.

Any of you guys played around with Amplitude 4? I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on this software.
Sorry bro, I am of no use here. I know very, very little about recording, software, etc.

I've always been acoustic and have never tried to record anything. Garage jamming only for me, never made it past that. I have been dabbling with an electric setup I borrowed from my brother (an all-parts thin line tele and a sweet Gibson amp). I'm getting into electric a little more, but it's been a bit foreign to me.

I'm going to read through here though, I have been thinking it would be nice to be able to record some backing tracks so I can work on soloing (very obviously my weakest point. I can learn solos, but I'm terrible at creating them).

Here is the electric I've been messing with

And the British-made Gibson Goldtone amp. This thing sounds amazing. I have only ever used smaller amps. Love this one. I might not give it back to my brother :D

Nice set up that amp looks intriguing
Thanks man. It sounds great - big, full, clean sound. I don't know much about it (my bro is the gearhead), but apparently the British made Gibson amps are coveted. It's a tube amp and it has gain and reverb built in. And even though it has 'Gibson' stamped on it, it was made by Trace Elliot.

The only thing I have is a 4 track from the 90s. :)

I've been playing mostly acoustic for the last 15 years, but I want to dust off the electric but I don't feel like lugging my solid state CRATE amp all over the place so I'm looking at software. I literally have nothing right now.
There's mini amps you can buy for less than a couple hundred bucks

Yeah. I've looked at those but I think I'm ready to go digital. I'm very intrigued with the sound this software generates. There are 30+ amps to play through, and you can choose different speakers and mics for recording. It feels very "gimmicky" but everything I've watched online sounds awesome.

And if I want some sound, I can always line out to my 200w 2x12 Crate Amp that I've had since high school and wake the neighbors.

I've been thinking about picking one of these up for a practice amp. I think you can record to your laptop with this amp and the software it comes with. It's a cool little amp with some good features.

The iRig interface showed up yesterday, along with the download code for the Amplitube program. I felt like a kid at Christmas.

Started the download then headed to the basement to find the electric, which I don't believe I've touched in 15 years. Found it only to find it was missing the B string (undoubtedly due to an epic bend). Couldn't find my cable either.

Ran out to the music store and bought a cable and some strings - Had no idea what to get but I recognized the Ernie Ball Super Slinky packaging so I grabbed those in the .011 (I used to play .009s in my 80s metal days :) but I'm a grown up now so...)

Restrung the guitar, plugged it in through the iRig and...nothing. No sound. Eventually found out I needed to download a different audio thing called Asio. Good to go once I did that - great sound even from my shitty guitar. I played for about an hour.

The effects are sweet (compression, flange, chorus, delay, overdrive) and the different amps are cool. It has a built in tuner which is convenient.

I have a lot to learn, but so far I love it.
