Would care, but the greatest thing (fighting for pleasure, not caring about money, or ego) about WMMA will eventually change as the money becomes more equal, e.g. Ronda making more than lots of men getting more women to care more about money.

One of the old Hook N Shoot cards turned my head back in the day. Actually made me cry, swear to God, to see how pure the joy of competing was in all the bouts. Nobody was upset about losing -- they were all happy as hell to have been able to get in there and do it.

It surprises me more older dudes aren't bigger fans of WMMA. I end up rolling with women a lot because it's like getting on the treadmill or stairclimber (neither of which I would ever do, given a less boring choice) except I get to work on my mobility & technique without getting all beat up from manspazzing partners. Even if a chick spazzes, it's not gonna injur me. And they get to use me as kind of a strength trainer where they can use all their strength without it being dangerous or rude to their sparring partners. You end up going to more women's events (BJJ usually) to corner & watch female training partners because you've invested more in them yourself.

Another factor is women are better students than men, especially striking, because they're not hung up on looking like they're throwing "faggot punches." (Ol skoolers will recognize that quote...)

And as far as the purest ethical concerns, WMMA has the potential for all the technique of every aspect of the arts to play out, with maximum power (for each class) without the brain damage that men are eventually all going to suffer if they stay in the game long enough. In the 125 and smaller classes, concussion is a much smaller concern than for men, whether in training or in competition, regardless of level. A woman's body at that weight class just can't generate the same concussive power as a man's.

I guess I see that as a positive, not a negative. Call me crazy, but if everybody did, we'd be living in a world with a lot fewer dipshit douchebags.

There have been some all time great wmma fights. Tate vs. Zingano, Gadelha vs Joanna 1 and 2. I think strawweight alone has more technical fights than the average fight above MW. The expression of technique is purer, power is less of a factor, more flexibility, better sportsmanship. I do agree there are several mismatches amd some flat out bad fights, but as a percentage of fights per weight class, the ratio of good ones and bad ones are about equal to men's MMA.

Joanna was more technical & sharp than 90% at least of the men when she hit the UFC. Things are progressing fast, though, so she looks less exceptional now (look at how crazy the gap between Yair and BJ was, recently, for e.g.). Also, maybeJJ has lost a step in how sharp her stand-up is due to focusing on other aspects of the game.

Sometimes women don't look as technical as men because of the difference in reflexes & power & the general difference in how many in the pool were specifically wrestlers and/or boxers growing up.

I enjoy WMMA. The women usually fight with more emotion and although they're not as polished as the men in most cases, they scrap like their lives depend on it.

Those two wmma fights last card were bad.they didnt have any business being on a televised mma card.the top 5 wmma in their division should be in the ufc.the rest should be in invicta

I think the UFC has to work something out with Invicta. I'd like to see the UFC show only the title fights. It is too big a stage to use to develop some of the female talent we are seeing. The fact is the divisions are currently too shallow and the range of skills between the contenders and the rest of the competitors is too great. The Dandois/Davis had no business being on that card and rather than promoting WMMA it hurt it as casual fans see that fight and come away with a poor opinion of female fighters. No disrespect to those two fighters but they are not nearly at the skill level to share the stage with UFC calibre fighters. Let these fighters get experience and improve their skills in a smaller friendlier promotion like Invicta.

The awfulness of that fight was mostly on Dandois, imo.

Dandois is a weird case, in that she's possibly the worst striker I've ever seen who has any kind of name, but an amazing grappler. I remember watching her against Megan Anderson and being blown away by how flatfooted and plodding she was standing, like a bad heavyweight, and then as soon as the fight hit the ground she just straight tooled Megan. Dandois got a (controversial) win over Marloes Coenen in her debut, and also got knocked out in 34 seconds by Yana Kunitskaya. She's just night-and-day when striking or grappling, and not representative of all WMMA.

I don't blame Alexis Davis for playing it cautious against her and just out-pointing her. She wasn't likely to submit Dandois and better an ugly win than an ugly loss.

EDIT: I don't agree with the idea of keeping only the top 5 women in each division in the UFC, and this fight was at the start of the card on FightPass, so the fewest people saw it. However, I've outlined in detail how the UFC would be best served "sharing" a women's FW division with Invicta, and only having the top 6 or so W145ers be full-time in the UFC, with another 6 doing every other fight or so in Invicta, with others getting the chance as they develop.

This would require that the UFC invest heavily in Invicta and pay for more than 6 cards a year (with only 8 fights each no less). Outside of their Champions and a few key fighters like Mizuki Inoue, that's barely enough for 1-fight-per-fighter-per-year.

I think the WMMA fights should be on separate cards from the men's fights. Stop mixing them together and it would be better all around.
I get your point, but this would be a bad marketing move. Not many would watch female-only cards. If they want to market their women they need to put them on the same cards as the men. They did, and now there are a few women who actually are more popular than men at the same level in the rankings. Helped the business in my opinion.

I would possibly be on board with something a bit less drastic than that. Maybe non-title, non-top 5 or 10 fights reserved for the fight pass prelims or something. I loved having Waterson-Namajunas on a main card the other day, for example. It's a slippery slope though because the UFC does, understandably, want to promote these girls and Fight Pass prelims don't do much for that.
