Before we had kids my wife and I would sometimes go to the theatre and watch different movies. I hate being talked to when the show is on and if we don't fully agree on a flick why force a compromise? After we'd go eat or something and take about our movies, good times.
I've done this before. Especially with Marvel movies because I hate explaining who everyone is while trying to watch. Go watch Fifty Shades and let me enjoy my superheroes!
I prefer going alone, people are usually a little bit interesting the first time I meet them. Most people bore me within 5 minutes, then I make them uncomfortable and we tend to part ways.
I took my anniversary off this year to go see John Wick 2 by myself. It was a great decision.

More than anything, I walked right to my favorite seat and no one was there.
The theater here is all preassigned seating now. Even in that environment going solo is a huge because when people buy their pairs they always leave a one seat buffer between the nest set of sold seats.

We don't have that here yet, but it's coming. We go to Baton Rouge's Movie Tavern often that has pre-seating and you order food that they bring to you.
My other half had an all day interview out of town but I still wanted to travel with him, I did some sightseeing and went to see The Revenant on my todd, it was the longest movie there thus killing the max time and there were only 3 of us in the cinema. It only felt weird to begin with really.
