Urgh sprained or broke my toe Friday rolling ,no idea when or how so that's annoying.

Technique I've used lately I really find effective is using the gi lapel skirt under the arm to either set up a baseball choke or just distract them to get mount or hold to start working submissions or tire them out.

Felt like I was getting momentum I hope it heals fast

Tape it and get back out there..... If I don't break a toe at least three times a year, I feel unaccomplished

Seems like a lot could go wrong with this is it really high percentage?
It is a great catch, however personal preference, when I'm in that position, I prefer to attack a kimura, crowbar, or razor from that position (from that half guard frame, straighten your top leg and bring it over your opponent's back, keeping it heavy across their shoulders to keep their posture low. Your bottom leg should slide out from between your opponent's leg, and you place your foot on their waste/hip. From there, the arm that he was over hooking, fold it back for a kimura, pinch your knees together at their shoulder and swivel your hips under them while pushing their arm away from their head for the crowbar, or go from an over hook to an under hook and attack a razor. The best thing is if your opponent postures up, then you can swivel your hips and transition into a triangle from there.

Really want to work on this one as an alternative to the arm inside which I struggle with if they are heavy units. Had a terrible session last week I had been off with an injury I got a stitch and was losing everything, I couldn't remember any of my techniques or basics. Head wasn't in it. Hoping this week will be different

this was the first side-control escape I learned. I started BJJ with a bunch of wrestlers, so I got lots of opportunities to practice side control escapes.
This sequence of escapes by Roy Dean was my bread and butter until I spent some time with Pedro Sauer. Pedro's series works for me no matter how big the guy is, where he's putting the pressure, or how fast he recognizes what i'm doing. But the threat of the sweep that Roy shows is the basis for keeping guys honest when you bridge.

1) I agree Helio would have won, however "toyed with" is a bit of a stretch.... Bruce would have gotten a few good shots in

2) There aren't selling BJJ here, they are saying that if that guy has no training in grappling, a person who has can beat them..... Well no shit Mr Jiu Jitsu, that's like saying that a kid who got his driver's license 2 days ago is a better driver then the adult millionaire who has always had drivers.

3) This I agree with 200%

4) Cut the rhetoric Mr Jiu Jitsu, I know a lot of BJJ purple/brown/black belts who have been in quite a few fights.

5) They don't know striking but they know how to roll, slip, Bob and weave? Know enough to keep themselves from getting hit? Come on now

6) I agree hole heartedly

What's everyone been up to recently? I've been messing around with a few lapel chokes. And using the lapel more in general. Also we had a very small class today so my coach asked if I wanted to go over anything in particular....I said footlocks! Lots and lots of footlocks. What's about you guys?
