They both wanted it, and now top welterweight contenders Jorge Masvidal and Stephen Thompson have got their wish for a showdown at UFC 217 in November.

Masvidal (32-12 MMA, 9-5 UFC) today announced that he and Thompson (13-2-1 MMA, 8-2-1 UFC) will meet at the event, and multiple sources have since confirmed the contest with both MMA Fighting and ESPN.

Im going with wonderboy but it sucks for him because theres no fuckin way he gets another title shot while woodleys champ

He could win 3 straight by flying crane kick and not get a shot

But who is more deserving than the winner of this fight?

Not that deserving means anything in the UFC.

Was a hell of a fighting champion that defended in wars. Only lost to the current champ after a hell of a couple year run.Took some time off, then returned and fought the fight every fight fan wanted and won. I think that's as good a case as anyone considering the admitted lack of current challengers.

Been waiting for this fight to get announced.
I like Thomson but I don't see him really getting another title shot of he wins so I really want my boy Gamebred Jorge to Destroy him for a chance at the belt.

That's the only fight that makes sense to me.

He's just had 2 title shots and he wasted them both. If he'd actually tried to win he might've won. In his favour, he only needs to beat Woodley once to make it even between them, and then they could do the immediate rematch to decide once and for all who is the best.

I wouldn't pay for a PPV with Thompson headlining again though, would you?

I wouldn't worry too much about it, Woodley isn't gonna be competing forever

and Hendricks 2 plus the Condit fight, and many felt Cerrone beat him.

IMO he was never the WW champ.
