The past few weeks of Anderson Silva’s life has been all about his dissatisfaction with the UFC, particularly with how fights are being made. His recent threats of retirement did not seem to move the UFC brass, that company president Dana White even called his bluff and urged him to hang it up if he wishes to.

The UFC’s recent matchmaking trend has not been well received by fighters. During his pre-fight media scrum on Wednesday, Jorge Masvidal was vocal about how the UFC is beginning to be more of a popularity contest, especially with granting title shots.

Masvidal feels Silva’s grievances speak a lot about their current situation. Which is why he is also calling for the company to at the…

Anderson should be treated with respect by the UFC for all he's done for the company but he certainly isn't in a spot where he can dictate or make demands on what the UFC should do.

No doubt he's a great fighter but The Spider has let fans and the UFC down in the past too. With his antics fighting guys like Cote, Maia, and Leites. Being there for two of those fights myself I remember the crowd being pretty pissed off. Not to mention the Diaz and DC performances.

The Spider should learn that the UFC like ANY sport is a "What have you done for me lately and what can you do for me now" business. Once an athlete passes their prime the owners move on.

IS NORMAL

I get what you're saying, however in my mind, the shit from the Cote, Leites, and Maia fights were so long ago, they're non factors to me anymore. I get how a fighting champ like Silva could be bored with the competition the UFC gave him. Back even in those days he was wanting super fights, but the UFC said no (he was going to cut to 175 to fight GSP)... He asked to box RJJ and that was never allowed to happen...... Basically all the shit Conor is trying to do now, they said no to Silva then.

His performance against Diaz, I understand his tentative nature seeing as how it was his first fight back, and for the DC fight, what else did you expect from him with 2 days to prepare for it?

Point taken, especially with the DC fight with two days notice, I agree with you on that.

Still say Silva isn't in the driver anymore and any demands will be looked at more as a 'what can you do for me tomorrow' than what did he do yesterday. With the new ownership letting Chuck go and others shows that they have no memory or care for past acheivements. With Andy's age and last few performances they'd be more likely to let him hang up the gloves.

Not saying at all I agree with it, in fact think it's wrong.

“A guy like Anderson Silva is one the greatest champions we’ve had. If he’s not happy, that says a lot,” Masvidal said.

“That guy made the company plenty of money. Make that guy happy,”
Truth, spoken by a real fighter. Only non-fighters and Dana White could spin Silva's situation to make it seem like he's out of line asking that a fight with Romero be for the interim belt. If a win over Yoel doesn't "earn" you an interim title, then what the fuck does?

Big fan of both guys. Intriguing match up here. Initial gut feel is Jorge takes it in a close decision.

Being that there is no set road to a title, it's all subjective. As easy as you say Anderson doesn't deserve it, I could just as easy make a point with examples of people who were given title shots who were just as if not less deserving. I think the biggest influence is who makes the most people tune in($$$), and in that regard Anderson's name still holds clout.
