Evert week I'm going to be posting one FOTY as named by the ring magazine. First up is Chuvalo vs Patterson! This HD remaster also includes a great little documentary about historic fights that have taken place at Madison Square Garden.. leading into this one - an absolutely historic battle, between two of the greats of the golden era.

Thank god for the internet! Until this was posted, I had a crappy VHS of this and other FOTYs put out in a set years ago. Watching this now makes it feel so much more alive! It's a 1080p from the MSG network

Oh, and as a bonus? The GREATEST, Muhammad Ali, is on guest commentary for the fight. He fought both of these guys, who were amongst the toughest in boxing's greatest period.

Really amazing to see this stuff in such crystal clear quality. What a fight this was. sgotwalks @sgotwalks , I know you gotta be proud of your boy in this one

If you guys wanna see two old school bad motherfuckers go to war... Here you go!

Along with the classic boxing thread, as long as this guy keeps uploading HD FOTY's, I'll post every year, at random, 1 time a week. I think anyone new to boxing who may have been let down by the Floyd/Pac fight should check THESE fights out! They called Floyd vs Pac the fight of the century.. maybe money wise.. but it ain't no Ali/Frazier 1, the REAL fight of the century because of what happened in the ring!

Maybe I'll post the HD one of that next...

Chuvalo was like punching a fridge. He wasn't the best guy in that mix, but man was that guy tough. Only two guys who managed to put him out were the heaviest of the heavies Foreman and Frazier.

Love this fight!! I have not been able to get onto the internets much over the past several days, but I intended to return with the pictures I got with both Chuvalo and Patterson on the same night back in 1989. However, what started as another search for my misplaced pictures turned into a fucking gong show of my spreading hundreds and hundreds of photos out all over my gym/office and getting cranky as fuck the longer the day went on. If my wife knew that this thread was the cause of the mood I was in the other day I have no doubt she would not like Galanis as much as she was not liking me at that time!

Both Chuvalo and Patterson are classy dudes who put on a heavyweight tilt for the ages. It was a huge friggin honor to meet them both, and I can assure you that those pics will be found and when they are I will return!

I have a DVD that a friend of mine burned for me about ten years ago with about 7 FOTY's on it, and this one is included along with Matthew Saad Muhammad vs Yaqui Lopez, Jonny Tapia vs Paulie Ayala, Hagler vs Hearns, Gatti vs Ward 1, Foreman vs Lyle............anyways, sometimes when I am in the doghouse (my man cave) and I am all beered or toked out and I don't want to come inside to face the wrath, I will put that DVD on and lay back..........eventually fall asleep, and that thing will loop all night. Even when I am sleeping I am hearing the commentary in my conscience and I wake up the next morning feeling like I have watched all those damn fights like a hundred times. I know it, I know it well, lol!
