Same thing happened last year.So many big name free agents haven't signed yet. This has been a very strange off season.
Harper, Machado, Keuchel, Kimbrel, Moustakas
Maybe it just feels bigger because Harper and Machado are such huge names.Same thing happened last year.
Maybe but last year you had Hosmer, Moustakis, JD Martinez and a few others that didnt sign till late or afrer spring training started. Lorenzo Cain signed like the week before.Maybe it just feels bigger because Harper and Machado are such huge names.
They were projected on the MLB Network to finish tied for 3rd with the cubs and pirates winning 81 games. They will have huge trade possibilities for a playoff run if they perform the first half of the season. Not sure if you guys were paying attention but the Reds added some solid players over the off season.
Might win 80 games this year.
I think Harper is a bit overrated. Strikes out way too much. But if you put some guys around him he would be a force. Can you imagine his lefty bat between Judge and Stanton? Haha.Maybe but last year you had Hosmer, Moustakis, JD Martinez and a few others that didnt sign till late or afrer spring training started. Lorenzo Cain signed like the week before.
It seems that MLB teams arent willing to overpay for players like they use to. Harper is coming off his worst year and Machado hasnt been the best clubhouse guy.
If he plays every day, Puig will have 30+ bombs at the break. They were projected on the MLB Network to finish tied for 3rd with the cubs and pirates winning 81 games. They will have huge trade possibilities for a playoff run if they perform the first half of the season.
Best thing they can hope for is that Puig performs somewhat up to standard and they can trade him for prospects before he gets hurt.
I think after the owners were schooled by a low rent Royals team few years ago they learned their lesson. The owners basically paid the Royals through luxury taxes to win the Series. While that sounds like the luxury tax worked, it also made the tax almost a salary cap.I think Harper is a bit overrated. Strikes out way too much. But if you put some guys around him he would be a force. Can you imagine his lefty bat between Judge and Stanton? Haha.
Machado is an interesting dude for sure.
I don't know if this is a paradigm shift away from big money, long term contracts or if the resistance from the owners is more about these two guys specifically.
Good.I think after the owners were schooled by a low rent Royals team few years ago they learned their lesson. The owners basically paid the Royals through luxury taxes to win the Series. While that sounds like the luxury tax worked, it also made the tax almost a salary cap.
Right but free agents bitching about not getting paid now will have a even harder time. I personally have no problem with the owners holding out. If your choice is to play baseball for 18 million a year over 10 years instead of 20 million over 10 years I dont have much sympathy.Good.
They need to ditch the luxury tax and install a cap anyway.
You're a Royals fanAnyone have the MLB.TV app? Thinking about getting it this year So I can watch Cards games.
I've had the MLB At Bat app the last couple of years just so I can listen to day games while at work or on Vacation. I think it was $10. I also like to randomly tune in to the losing side of a huge blowout. Listening to Bob Uecker when the Brewers are down 12 is a treat. You never know what the fuck he's going to start talking about.Anyone have the MLB.TV app? Thinking about getting it this year So I can watch Cards games.
They'll never win shit with that stupid rainbow-jumping shark in centerfield. The Marlins look like World Series contenders
