Yeah. Who knows what people say behind closed doors. I've been floored by folks I thought were pretty decent. And people I assumed were dip-spittin' rednecks have proved to be very accepting individuals with huge hearts.

I've learned you can never judge a book by its cover.
With? Is so true. I live in the south and some of my favorite coworkers are those dip spitting rednecks you're talking about. The have all the guns and hunting dog boxes in their trucks, but they are awesome guys.

Hell, I've been assumed to be a dip-spittin' redneck. Haha

NASCAR has banned the confederate flag at their tracks. I've been to a few events in person and you can usually see them flying somewhat often. For those that don't know anything about NASCAR - banning the confederate flag at races is like baseball banning hotdogs.

Should be interesting. Sunday is the first race that will have fans at the track since the announcement. It's in Florida which isn't really the South, but I'm sure there will be plenty of people testing the new ban.

I will say the flying of the confederate flag at these events is more about "southern pride" and isn't being done as a sign of racism, but there is no denying the optics of the confederate flag flying all over the place at these events. It's a bad look.

A part time driver in the truck series - Ray Ciccarelli - announced his retirement over the banning of the flag.

He is 50 years old and his own company "sponsors" his team. In 3 years he had one top 10 finish in 18 races.

Zero wins - just like the South.

I'm guessing it's fake.

Kyle Weatherman's new paint scheme for today's race in Miami...

He says it isn't a response to Bubba Wallace's car from last week:

Larson won his first race since "the incident"

Bubba Wallace, NASCAR's only Black full-time driver, was one of the first competitors to congratulate Larson.

"It meant a lot for Bubba to come to victory lane," Larson said. "He's always believed in me. That was special."

Daytona 500 flag drops at 2:30 today.

Kyle Larson is on pole with a speed of 181.16 mph
His teammate Alex Bowman will be on the front row outside.

This marks the 10th year in a row that Chevy will have a car on the Daytona 500 pole.

One of the more interesting entries is the Grambling State car. Grambling State is a historical black college. John Cohen, a Grambling State graduate, entrepreneur and race enthusiast, is the team owner. Greg Biffle, a NASCAR veteran driver of 20 years who hasn't competed at this level for 5 seasons (semi-retired), is behind the wheel.

Love the paint scheme of their car, which will start 28th in the grid:

The most appropriate sponsor is this entry:

Personally, I'll be pulling for Martin Truex (start position 14th) - who I have connections with through family:

I'll also be keeping an eye on Justin Haley (start 25th) and Daniel Hemric (start 33rd), both who drive for Kaulig Racing - the owner is a childhood friend. I haven't talked to him in ages, but I've been following his racing career.

O/U on lead changes in today's race? 35.

That's an entire season's worth of lead changes for F1.

FYI - NASCAR switched from 5 lugs to a single center lug for this season. I can't imagine how pissed off some rednecks over this change.

LMFAO @ Big E going ham on the driver intro with Michael Waltrip. He must have dropped some f-bombs because it got muted out. I think he legit scared the shit out of Waltrip and the driver.

Waltrip was like "pick him up over your head". Blaney had a look on his face like uhhh.

Big E was like "Wooh! After he wins we doing that!"

Big E is the honorary pace car driver today. Living his best life.

Bubba Wallace running 3rd with 60 laps to go. I wouldn't mind seeing him take this either.

We got a big one coming. Nothing but bump drafting. 2 lines. Things are getting squirrely. Drivers losing patience.

20 to go.

There's no way this thing finishes without a 15+ car pileup.

fuck bubba wallace. pos imo.
He almost pulled off the win.
There were 2 or 3 moments in the last 15 laps where he took a solid bump from behind and nearly lost the ass end. Kept it straight though - even after taking heavy contact from Stenhouse during his crash. Say what you want about Bubba - the dude can drive.
