Lane Kiffin would reportedly take the Miami job in a heartbeat, should the Canes offer it to him if/when Manny Diaz is given his walking papers. It also goes without saying he’d take the LSU job.He’s not hid that he isn’t crazy about living in Mississippi and may be eyeing an exit once Matt Corrall leaves.
Some minor grumblings that Bryan Harsin may be interested in the Washington vacancy. He’s a PNW guy and is still close with Chris Petersen, who is still employed in the Washington Athletic Department. Yet, he’s been reluctant to reveal his vax status, and state employees are mandated to get vaccinated. I’m not too sure about how much water this has.
Charles Huff of Marshall could be a sleeper to keep an eye on for the Virginia Tech. While his resume as a head coach is extremely limited, many in the coaching circles think he has a sky high ceiling. He’s an ace recruiter, a major motivator and has mentored under some elite coaches (Saban, Franklin). There will be other candidates who now are higher on the Tech wish list, but don’t be shocked if Huff winds up becoming a quick riser.
Sonny Dykes seems to have re-emerged as “the guy” to replace Gary Patterson. He currently has an extension offer from SMU but has not signed it, and is giving many vague answers as to why not. Leads me to believe a deal between the two sides may be eminent.
