Padres just got Juan Soto and Josh Bell from Washington.

Soto was the most walked batter in baseball in 2021 (145 bb) and has the most this year as well (91)

With Machado and - eventually - Tatis Jr, teams won't be able to pitch around him as much. Soto is a lethal addition to that lineup.

I know some are making the argument for Ohtani, but that's just because he's a 2 way player. His offensive stats are pretty average (.255/.352/.495). His pitching stats are impressive, but not so dominant that he's a lock for the Cy Young.

Judge is absolutely dominating the game right now. He leads the league in Runs, HR, RBI, SLG and Total Bases. (.299/.384/.680)

What Ohtani is doing is certainly impressive, but his stats don't merit MVP consideration.

Plus - How much "value" is Ohtani bringing to the Angels with them having a 43-59 record?

The team that is 1/2 game behind the Orioles?
In dead last place 18 games out of 1st?

Hell, the Reds aren't even in last place and they are only 16 games out of 1st.

Cincy is probably a better career move than Boston at this point for Judge. ?

Hosmer vetoed the trade to Washington.
So now Boston gets him. LMAO.

Congrats! You guys just picked up a 32 year old 1B who has 8 dingers on the season.

The good news is it looks like SD is eating all of his salary.

Soto is a beast. He will be even better in that Padres lineup.

He hit .351 in 2020 - after that teams just decided to walk his ass rather than give him anything to hit.
When Soto was rumored to be going to the Jays, he was the best player not named Vladdy Jr. Now that he's with the Padres. He sucks.

Hosmer may have had the worst contract in baseball. Dude was basically a bust after leaving KC.

Padres went all in on this year but its still probably not enough to overtake the Dodgers.

I'm surprised they went all in for what will likely be a wild card spot. They have a lot of ground to make up in that division - and less than 60 games left to do it.

Trout has had statistically dominating seasons. Ohtani isn't having one of those this year - offensively or on the mound.
He did and should have been MVP but his teams still sucked despite the Angels doing their best early 2000s Yankees impression.

Watching the ATL @ NYM game while I do some shit in the garage.

Braves pitcher Odorizzi is a human rain delay. If I was a batter I'd be screaming "PITCH THE FUCKING BALL! WHAT ARE YOU FUCKING LOOKING AT!"

Then when he threw at me I'd charge the mound and beat his skinny little ass.
