5 star match thread.

In this thread I will from time to time post matches that are either regarded 5 star or I myself imho have rated five stars. This first match is Kurt Angle's own personal favourite match of his career. He broke his own tail bone and gave Shane O Mac a beating he would never forget.

Next up is Halloween Havok 1997. Mysterio in his Phantom comic book attire and Eddie with full on mullet. This match made everyone appreciate the smaller guys it was an absolute classic from start to finish and told a story in the ring.

TNA Final Resolution 2005 Ultimate X match. This is possibly the best Ultimate X match, it was the 6th but the chemistry was top notch. The heel, the baby face, the outside interference and all three competitors were firing on all cylinders.

Why would you get banned for that? I still remember going over to a buddy's house to order that ppv back when I was little more than a 5 o'clock shadow.

Next on my list of 5 star matches is actually the second of a trilogy of 5 star matches between Ric Flair and Ricky the Dragon Steamboat. This is as good as it gets for telling a story in the ring. Baby face vs Heel. Imo both one of the best in those roles Steamboat was a perfect face and Flair Heel. There's no ten minute rush and stupid stipulations just two guys with beef.

This next 5 star match is one of my all time favourites. I was a fan of both guys going in, they'd had an epic build up towards this Wrestlemania with Stunners and Rock bottoms and trash talk and the Rock was devastating, Austin would do whatever it took to win the belt but what happened in this match was truely shocking at the time. I remember watching it and my jaw dropped. McMahon was a conniving bastard but nobody expected this.

Next up is NJPW Okada vs Tanahashi two of the best pro wrestlers outside the USA. They actually have 3 five star matches officially and this is the first. If you've never seen either wrestle you are in for a treat.

Next match up is the NXT takeover R Evolution main event match between former best friends Sami Zayn and Adrian Neville. The match up had been building up over a number of weeks and this match really showed what kind of quality NXT could provide.

I guess I gave it an arbitrary 5 stars. Not sure if anyone else held it in such high regard. But I watched on the Network recently and it reminded me of everything that's wrong with modern WWE. Just a great match with a ton of legends and intense crowd participation. Only wanted to share that one.

I remember watching this live and just thought these guys are really going for it. It was a PPV quality match up and you rarely get that on Raw now.

This next match is one of the rare Women's /Divas matches considered 5 stars. It catapulted Sasha Banks onto the main roster not long after and Bayley won the respect of the fans everywhere. This not only showed NXTs continued growth it also showed that ladies could put on an epic match when given the chance.

The classic Hart vs Austin I quit match. Obvious but legit.

This is probably as hyped as I have ever been during a match.

This next 5 star match is one of my favourites of all time. Bret took Davey Boy to a level he had never been before. The 1992 Summerslam was held at Wembley stadium in London England so Davey had big support but Bret also had a big following, they were fighting over Bret's sister/ Davey's partner so there was a lot of animosity. This match was absolutely epic and for the Intercontinental title

Cactus Jack vs HHH at the Royal Rumble 2000 Cactus Jack became a dangerous character and it showed You could revamp an old gimmick but also HHH earned his stripes in this match he became the main event heel. Both guys put all they had into this match.

One of the better WWE matches John Cena has been involved in if not his best. CM Punk's contract was about to run out so the WWE did not want a new champion leaving after winning the belt.Vince said to Cena if he didn't win Cena would be fired.
