I had the day off, and was looking forward to literally playing Warcraft all day long. (Personal best was 16 straight hours, but that's a different day)
Then I log in, and all but one of my characters have no armor. I get into the game, and my personal 6 tab guild bank is practically empty.
I had been hacked. It was the most violated I have ever felt in my life. I don't mean to marginalize rape victims, but that morning I knew that feeling. It was horrible.
But there are 2 silver linings to the sad tale. First, the realm I was in was low pop, and Blizzard was offering free realm transfers to a choice of two other realms, so in a day, there was hardly any active players in my realm. I transfered all my hacked characters, except my well geared, max level at the time hunter. Moopoo. I had a program called shadow bot. Shadow bot allowed you to set your characters to fly around and look for nodes, in Moopoo's case that was mining. I ran that 24/7 until the final day of free transfer and had over 100 of 20 stacks of Titanium Ore.
Sure I had to make a new guild and buy extra tabs. but when Moopoo was done, I could crush the market on the auction house, the ore was going for anywhere between 250-350 gold. And if some shitbag tried to undercut me, I had the ammo to under cut him by a single bronze. I had the Auction house app, and could monitor my auctions, buy, or create new ones anywhere, anytime.
It was pretty awesome.
Second, it took about a week, but Blizzard did get me all my gear back, except my elite purple fishing pole that had a skull as a reel.
