GSP - the combination of athletic excellence and Fight IQ brilliance.

Taking very little damage, getting punched minimally, getting kicked rarely.

GSP showed MMA that you need to use your head for more than a Reebok cap rack.

Making game plans, sticking to game plans, executing game plans... he really is the greatest of all time.

Has sensitive facial skin so always looked more beat up than he actually was.

Never using steroids, just using intelligence. A great ambassador for the sport. A true model for young fighters to aspire to.

It's hard to deny this, I don't know a fighter who has a higher fight IQ (making the necessary adjustments, listening to the coaching in fight and prior). Maybe Mighty Mouse eventually, but to this point, GSP is the top.

Ben Askren just said in JRE, he was almost never hit during 3 fights in 2017.

MM is always sour topic but he seems to be pretty damn smart and he doesn’t even have to play the safe game like GSP.

GSP fight IQ, pretty damn high but random fighters pull some crazy fight IQ situations from time to time, not as often as GSP, but more valued imo.

Example: Ortega adjusting the guillotine choke on Swanson while hanging on was pretty high level fight intelligence in that moment.

Jones is no 1 , Gsp takes the no 2 spot.
Jon Nose Candy Jones

Had to take steroids and cheat to beat a 40 year old DC

Got the best steroids from his NFL brother

Jon Moe Howard Jones

Poking everyone in the eye, getting away with it

Georges St Pierre, no use for steroids or eye pokes

Beating the best every time out, the natural way

Winning fairly squarely

I think you need to consider Khabib also. He knows his strengths and he fights to them and doesn't try to stand and wang with guys. Both GSP and Khabib fight smart and play to their strengths and avoid putting themselves at unnecessary risk.

I like Khabib but I can't compare a guy who is yet to win a championship to a guy who held the belt for 7 or 8 years and defended it successfully so many times.

Plus, GSP never missed weight or was KO'd by a weight cut. That's called being a pro imo

Steroids don't make you smart.
