Let's dissect this interview Alistar Overeem gave to Fight HubTV:
Cliffs:
*Fedor had a great run from 2002-2005 after that nothing but Cans
*Declined to fight Overeem in 2009-2010
*When is it a good time to retire?
*Are the people around him being honest? Money the reason for coming back?
*Fedor never tested himself in the UFC
*(Overeem) He is not the greatest heavyweight because he declined to fight me on 2 different occasions
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My first thoughts on the interview,
Fedor from 2002-2005 was 15-0-1, basically his great PrideFC run.
2006-Present he certainly wasn't fighting the Top 5 HW's in the World, but he did rack up notable wins against Tim Sylvia, Andrei Arlovski, Brett Rodgers before finally losing a match (not including Kosoka) to Fabrio Werdum in 2010.
Fedor declining a fight with Alistar Overeem in 2009-2010 was a no brainer! This is when reem was UBEREEM on his horsemeat diet absolutely wrecking shop every where he went....
As a fan I was totally understanding on why Fedor declined this fight during that time:
December 5th 2009
Dec 31st 2009
April 3rd 2010
Agreed with Overeem that Fedor needs to have a sit down with his team and discuss when its time to hang em up for good, Fedor had come out of retirement ..perhaps should have stayed retired to preserve his legacy in MMA.
Disagree with Overeem that Fedor should have come to the UFC. The UFC has become the premeier MMA organization in the World once they purchased PrideFC but they have showed time and time again they do not care for the best interests of their fighters. Was glad Fedor never signed a deal with the UFC.
