Hey guys, just wondering if anyone else has tried this game before. I'm desperate to find new gangster style open world games - GTA clone type stuff, but ones that are not terrible - and this game seemed to match that fairly well.

I like the fact it's actually a Chinese organized crime setting.. you don't see that too much. Nice break from the usual mob games that are usually set in a NYC/LA type of place.

I literally just got it today and haven't played it yet, about to pop it in now. Has anyone else owned this/played it, and if so, what did you think? Also, can you recommend similar games? I have the GTA games, Mafia II, Red Dead Redemption, Sleeping Dogs and the Saints Row games.. I think that's it for open world gangster type stuff..Any game recommendations similar to those, preferably good ones, would be appreciated!

Apparently they remastered this for PS4.. looks good. I have the PS3 version, but here's a vid for anyone who hasn't seen it

Oh also, the whole reason I found out about this game is because I was feeling nostalgic and looked up True Crime: Streets of LA & NY on wikipedia.. and found out this game was eventually what became the next gen True Crime

Back when I was like 13/14, I only had a Gamecube.. no xbox or ps2.. so I was not able to own GTA, despite playing it at cousin's/friends houses and wanting to have it soooo bad. Therefore, the True Crime games were the best alternative available for my platform, and man I played the shit out of those. Looking back, they don't hold up so great.. But this looks pretty fun, and I hope it's gonna be good!

Again, any recommendations are much appreciated

I played a few years ago and my memory sucks so I don't recall too much specifically about this game.

I know I enjoyed it. I usually just play the main story and move on in open world games but I remember the fights and races were fun.

I think GSP did some motion capture for the fighting in this game too.

Enjoy!

If you're into open world games, L.A. Noire is one of my favourites. It's a Rockstar game based in the 40's where you play a cop and solve different cases through investigating tactics. The driving is a little clunky but it looks great and was a lot of fun.

Sleeping Dogs is great.

The driving isn't great but it works, the story and the fighting / shooting though......oh my.

Love this game, I played it on PC twice because I loved the story. The atmosphere is awesome, try to everything you can like side missions, races and the DLC is pretty cool too if can get it.

I replay Sleeping Dogs from time to time on PC, I absolutely adore the setting, the city, the whole atmosphere, hell it seriously made me want to visit/move to Hong Kong!
I wish we had more games like that set in Asia... GTA in Tokyo? Instabought.

Also OP, this isn't exactly a GTA-like game but I think you should give a try to the Yakuza series on PS3 (and now on PS4), you would probably like them.
