Our association (RCJ Machado) has a weekend long affiliate training seminar a few times a year at Carlos Machado's Academy in Dallas. I am out here this weekend, and having a blast. Three days in a row of 6 hours of instruction from Carlos, Roger and John Machado, followed by 2 or so hours of open mats with 25 black belts and tons of other brown/purple belts. I always leave exhausted and beat up, but what a great opportunity. I brought one of our under-ranked blue belts (retired Army officer who has 10+ years no-gi/combative experience) who also does website consulting SEO etc, and this has turned into a good business weekend for him as well.
TLDR: if you get a chance to go to seminars/open mats with lots of high ranking guys- GO! You won't regret it.
