A rematch between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz is in the works for UFC 200, but former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo still hopes he gets the next crack at "The Notorious".

The Brazilian fighter, who lost his 145-pound belt to McGregor in December, is against the idea of booking the Irishman in a fight outside the featherweight division next, especially after his loss to Diaz in a welterweight contest at UFC 196.

"You will come back (to the featherweight division) with your tail between your legs after what happened, after that embarrassment," Aldo told Esporte Espetacular. "You will come back. My hand almost caught you, but when it does for good, you will sleep."

"He’s a lion when he’s attacking, but a kitten when he’s getting beat up," Aldo said. "Everybody saw in his eyes that he’s just a p---- that quits when he’s getting beat up. That’s what we saw."

With McGregor-Diaz targeted for UFC 200, Aldo insists that the fight the world wants to see is his rematch for the featherweight crown.

"I’m waiting for the rematch," he said. "It’s the right thing to do in my opinion because there was no fight, and everybody wants to see a fight. Everybody wants to see me beating him up, and that’s what I’m going to do. I will run through him, that’s a fact."

Conor is so deep into Aldo's head, he'd probably win at tic tac toe.

I've lost interest in that rematch.

It wasn't a fight. We know this. I picked Jose to win. But he needs to take someone out or something, all this whining is lowering his stock.

He is just trying to play the game like Conor... and actually he is not that wrong. Makes more sense than half the stuff Conor says.
People just see it in a different light because of where it comes from.

all this whining is lowering his stock.
Where is this whining? Its PR.

It's one thing to talk shit if you lose a close fight. It's another thing entirely if you get smoked out cold. I 100% beleive that Jose is a better fighter than connor but history shows he got knocked out in 13 seconds. I'm actually happy it happened as I felt Jose had started to coast a bit. Hopefully this ignite his killer instinct again. He is a complete mma fighter when he wants to be.

I agree with that like 95%.

However, Aldo saying what he did here is not that much different from Conor saying he got caught against Nate. Aldo actually is the one that can say that, and he can make claims that the fight didn't really happen.
Can Conor go out and claim again that once he touches Nate, he goes out cold or whatever the hell else he always says? Nope.

The idea of Aldo/McGregor 2 is much more exciting to me than Diaz/McGregor 2.

I will probably be going to UFC 200 regardless though.

He is just embarrassing himself by constantly sounding so bitter. Seriously, like I feel bad for him. That loss has to be eating at him inside, he can't shut up about Conor four months removed from their fight. Hope he fights Max at 200.

13 seconds.
Yup, all that needs to be said.

For a guy who got iced in 13 seconds by Conor (along with pulling out once and refusing the fight once), Aldo talks a lot of shit.

I was a big fan of Aldo for a long time, even after he got KO'd I still supported him because it's the fight game and anyone can get caught. But the way he has acted over the last few months has really soured me on him. Very disgraceful.

Man, this makes Aldo look like a bitch. He fucking refused to fight! Conor actually fought.

I hope this is just some PR stunt and not who he really is. Not cool.

I really don't understand the reactions on this thread.

This is what MMA has become. Vapid smack talk to get and hype fights. If you don't get that and think 90% of what comes out of fighters mouths is genuine, you really need to go back to watching WWE.

"Hopefully this ignite his killer instinct again."

I hope not, when Aldo loaded up and recklessly attacked he got put down. You cannot fight Conor emotional, the way to possible beat Conor is slowly chip away and take him to the later rounds. A quick 1-2 , a lot of fanting and setting up the leg kicks in the first rounds. Excellent gameplaning is needed vs Conor. Do i think Aldo is a better fighter? yes, but can he follow a gameplan, work on his mistakes and not fight emotional? I don't know

This almost goes the same for Conor vs Diaz 2, if Conor fights emotional with the intent to finish quick it can also be a bad night. It's been proven to beat the Diaz bros you need gameplaning, footwork/movement, low kicks and win a Decision. I wonder if Conor will be able to check he's ego, cause he always says along the lines, "I'll put him down in the first round".

These guys are fighting so emotional that they're not fully focusing on winning every single round to win a fight, which then makes me wonder how unique GSP was in terms of what he did.

Mighty Mouse and Bas Rutten say you cannot fight emotional and they are right.

For most fights, I'd agree with you. Remember that sorry ass attempt at hyping the Aldo Mendez 2 fight. Mendez shoved Aldo and Aldo just looked confused. Haha.

However, I really do believe Aldo hates the shit outta mcgregor. That build up got pretty personal and I don't think Aldo's acting skills are that good. Just another fight for mcgregor though. That I do believe.

yeah I also don't get the well Conor talks shit = "yay"

but if Rockhold talks shit = "this guy is getting under my skin"

I would think if you like shit talkers you should root for all shit talkers. Could be that I'm over thinking it :)

Depends on the shit talking imo. If it's well done, i can appreciate the cerebral warfare. If it's poorly done, i don't care for it. Same thing if a punch is thrown with perfect technique versus a sloppy one. I like the well done punch better.
