Despite being sentenced to 4.5 years for sexual assault in 2015, Alexander Emelianenko could potentially return to the ring before the end of 2016.

According to Interfax.ru, the younger brother of MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko was released from prison three years early on parole for “good behavior.” Instead, he will be forced to complete “two years and 23 days of correctional labor with a 10% deduction of the convict’s salary going to the state.”

"The court granted the petition for early release filed by my client," said Emelianenko’s lawyer, Kakhaben Dolbadze. He added that the athlete is still in a penal colony in the Voronezh region awaiting his actual release.

Emelianenko is unlikely to have much trouble getting a fight in 2016, as Eurasian Fight Nights promoter Kamil Gadzhiev already revealed interest in signing him. Given that EFN is featured on UFC Fight Pass, the decision to host a convicted rapist’s return fight is questionable at best.

And he'll fight for some small, middle of Siberia promotion once every 4 days, highlighted by his 12 fight battle against Jeff Monson...

He'll never fight for a major MMA organization in the US again (won't get an entry visa due to his criminal record), plus I couldn't see UFC/Bellator/WSOF even considering that PR nightmare of allowing a rapist in their orgs. Japan may be an option, but I know they had laws regarding criminals entering their country (I remember all the background check stuff I filled out applying for my visa there).. and I couldn't see Rizin taking on that headache either.

Straight up? I'd stream him vs Monson. Of course I'm the only person left in the US that actually like Monson so I'm not a good gauge of interest.

the pic looks like he had a rough time in there. PTSD maybe? looks like he's seeing beyond. Just sayin' just because someone is a MMA fighter don't mean other prisoners will bow down. They got shanks and rape in there.

I'd like to see Hollywood make an Alexander/Monson cop buddy movie in Russian with English subtitles

The pic is actually from when he was arrested and convicted. He looked like that before Russian prison. Let that sink in.

I'm interested to see him fight and see all his new tattoos.

I didn't realize he is only 35 years old. Assuming he has been staying in shape and not taking head trauma in the pen, he may still have some good fights ahead of him.
