Is 35 too old to learn to play guitar? I've always wanted to, and I have tried in the past but failed miserably.

Could I jump straight to electric and blow my windows out or would it be better to start acoustic?

Oh yea, I'm pretty sure I'm tone deaf.
Acoustic is probably better to start with. Chords and shit.

Electric is easier on the fingers for beginners though.

Not sure.
I have a 500 watt Crate solid state amp from the 80s that will rattle your fillings out.

I figured I have a solid 3 months minimum to practice 5+ days a week. I can practice in my office while I watch scripts do my work for me.

i've had a couple people tell me the main reason people struggle to learn guitar is that they start with an electric or a cheap acoustic.
I keep threatening to enroll the kids in piano so I can learn.

FWIW - my cousin is a guitar teacher, and he's been doing online lessons for his students.
this is a really good time to get an instructor at a reasonable price.

Lessons would help, or...

Grab a 6 pack of beer, look up the tabs to Crazy Train and rock out with the amp at 11.

I'm thinking of doing the fender online classes, some guy told me it's 60 a year, that seems reasonable. I have discovered Chapman guitars, those seem to be more reasonably priced for a beginner and they look bad ass with their woodgrain.

All these guitar players are telling me to go electric and knock the neighborhood down.
My Dad is a professional musician

He would tell you to learn acoustic first

Many start on the electric and end up selling it when they realize they should have learned to play before learning to jam

If you just wanna slap on some distortion and play super simple stuff then electric can be fun for a lil while

If you really wanna learn guitar then acoustic is the proper start IMO

Have fun!
Good luck.

You can always have both
