Following a executive board meeting in Pyeongchang ahead of the upcoming Winter Games, the International Olympic Committee expressed its dissatisfaction with the Amateur International Boxing Association (AIBA) and shared its concerns over the governing body’s financial mismanagement and questionable choice for leadership.

The controversy began in 2016, when AIBA was plunged into a serious of scandalous corruption allegations at the Rio 2016 Summer Games. The Guardian reported through senior executives within the governing body for amateur boxing that match-fixing could have factored into several boxing matches at the 2016 Games, including the medal matches. Some claimed that a network of corrupted officials decided the score on certain bouts.

As long as they have Olympic Tennis & Football (soccer) who cares about combat "sports" right?

No chance it's getting left out, the history of amateur boxing in the various events is too long IMO

Didnt they just make it way better, more like the pro game. None of that scoring points with targets on the gloves.

Problem with corruption will exist in olympic sports forever but the boxing this time around was a lot more watchable.

the IOC should have to face a 19 year-old George Foreman one by one before making any such decisons..
