BERLIN (AP) — Police say a drunken American man was punched by a passer-by as he gave the stiff-armed Nazi salute multiple times in downtown Dresden.

Dresden police said Sunday the 41-year-old, whose name and hometown weren’t given for privacy reasons, suffered minor injuries in the 8:15 a.m. Saturday assault.

Police say the American, who is under investigation for violating Germany’s laws against the display of Nazi symbols or slogans, had an extremely high blood alcohol level. His assailant fled the scene, and is being sought for causing bodily harm.

It’s the second time this month that tourists have gotten themselves into legal trouble for giving the Nazi salute.

On August 5 two Chinese tourists were caught taking photos of themselves making the gesture in front of Berlin’s Reichstag building.

Yes either ignorant, stupid, or both for not knowing/ignoring the fact that the act is illegal in Germany.

What an idiot
There was a kid who joined my high school who had a prison style swastikas on his arm. There was only a handful of non whites in our school but he got called out pretty quick over that shit. Tried the whole peace symbol bullshit.

I know you are trying to make a (faulty) point but they were more than likely just ignorant.

East Asians don't study European history as much as we (western nations) do so I doubt they understood how inappropriate their actions were.

I like you, but you need to put the fork down. You've eaten more than enough retard pie over the last 24 hours.

Only thing I'll give the dumbass you mention is that at least it's legal here.
The idiot in OP is dumb as fuck for not knowing the laws in germany against that shit, like @conor mcgregor nut hugger said and thinking he can do the same shit that is tolerated in America in fucking Germany
I think the guy you mention was just ignorant as fuck as I do almost all racists
He's free to wear that shit if he wants, but I'm glad other people called him out on it

Agree with all except the last paragraph
I like that jason73 @jason73 isn't afraid to express an opinion that is different than most on shit like this

Gives more insight into what others may think even if you don't agree with him

He seems to actually be expressing his feelings on this stuff and not just trolling

You're absolutely right. I just can't make too many 100% serious posts in one day or I get a headache.

Saluting is illegal??!
that's a pretty extreme fascist country!
I can understand the "lack of freedom of expression" argument, but in the case of Germany, a country whose citizens to this day are often associated with Hitler/Nazism, it's understandable why the country would want to ban the "Heil Hitler" salute in public.

They can't erase the past, but they are trying to move on from it and not let it happen again.

Nothing special.

Q @Qat what is your opinion on your country's prohibition of the Nazi salute in public?

I don't think it would be possible to ban a gesture in the U.S. (it goes against the First Amendment of our Constitution, concerning Freedom of Expression), but it's hard to compare two countries with vastly different histories in regards to this topic.
