Police records show Johnson was detained by the New Canaan Police Department at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Conn., which was the site of his win over Jose Augusto.

“On 11/09/2019 the New Canaan Police took a complainant regarding a victim having their credit card being used by a third party without permission,” New Canaan police stated in the arrest record for Johnson.

“The illegal use of the credit card was used to purchase a round-trip airline ticket from Ft. Lauderdale, FL (FLL) to Newark, NJ (EWR). The name of the passenger was Anthony Johnson. A subsequent Investigation determined Johnson used the illegally obtained credit card to purchase the airline ticket. An arrest warrant was obtained for Johnson for the above charges.”

In Connecticut, identity theft in the third degree is a Class D felony punishable by up to five years in jail and up to a $5,000 fine and probation.

Johnson is expected to appear in court on June 8 to respond to the charges.

This is really bad news for the Bellator tournament, here is my suggestion though:

You book Romero with an alternate for Rumbles spot in the tournament, Rumble is obviously out of it now since they can't wait 6 months for him to get released so instead Romero needs to step up in the next show if he's medically cleared.

I can't say I didn't expect this to happend, Rumble has a long history with doing sketchy shit, I wont judge him, but the fact that he does something this stupid at a time when he was finally signed and actually doesn't need money seems ridiculous to me.

Hoping Romero will step in, I think he's got a better shot against Nemkov aswell, just sad to see another guy throw it all away :(.

EDIT: If he has to appear in court june 5. then obviously he IS out of the tournament, question is who will Romero's mystery opponent be? Anyone got any suggestions? I would love to see the swedish Karl Albrektsson who beat Vadim's brother Viktor, Karl vs Romero and the winner gets Nemkov, that's the fight to make in my mind. The fact is Bellator can't take a gamble and "hope" that he doesn't get jailed, they need to expect the worst or else Nemkov will go through on a buy and wont even have to fight in the semi's, best way to do that is booking Romero.
