There is a dealer here that has one. The fuel economy on it is crazy bad, like the Hemi. I cant imagine buying a 70k truck to then get 13mpg and be at a gas station twice a week, lol.
Yes, I have one
Poor mileage, great truck
I just pass the cost on to my people I do work for

aside from Ford, no one is putting up better MPG going this route
IMO Fords ecoboost sucks. When I was a street medic I blew up 3 eco boost engines on 911s. It was ridiculous. These were big E450s.

I have an 11 F150 eco and I swear it gets worse mileage than my F350 diesel.

I know the 3.5 people seem to have issues with. I had the 2.7 and it was fine and Ive heard engineer/mechanic types say its their better Ecoboost. Its a shame because on paper they cannot be beaten.

RAM is now putting this 3.0 Hurricane out in place of the Hemi. The Hemi people hate it but again on paper its a better motor. Same power but damn near double the mileage. Its a twin turbo and time will tell.

With these turbos I do wonder how hard people are on them. I tell this story about using a 3.5 ecoboost for a couple days as a loaner and it was stupid fast. You couldnt help yourself to stomp on it here and there. Well what about those people who do that all the time and while towing. I see guys fly past me every weekend doing 70+ with a 20' glass boat behind it, that aint fuckin good for the truck.

Car salesman really are the lowest of the salesman rung. I mean Ive always known this, but talking to a handful of these people this past week is wild.

Their entire thing is to get you in to test drive. Their brain cannot fathom a world in which someones goal is not to come in and drive cars with them and bullshit around. They wont let it go. Ask any question ....yeah but just come in and we can get it done.

What a useless fucking obstacle these people are.

the average car dealership is also worse than the DMV when it comes to wasting your fucking time. you are there for hours, even after you agree to buy

I always have my financing situated in advance. We bought my wife's Jeep GC in 2021, got pre-approved before going in at 2.79, I think it was. I sent that to them before we drove there. Get in the office with the F&I guy, he says he got us a great deal at 4.5% lol. I show him the interest rate and he gets annoyed, but types in the PC and we get our rate. Last week we were set for 5.59% before I visited, and I told every person that was our rate unless they could go lower. We got to the F&I office, he quoted 7.5%. Again, I show him the approval, he types on the PC and a few seconds later we magically have 5.59%

Just a fucking hassle and waste of time on every single level dealing with one

What I am curious to see play out is how Toyota handles this transition to Turbo. Ford has already been there done that and most definitely learned a lot since 2012. Chevy reportedly has a great turbo motor in their 2.7. But point being these guys have already been in the weeds getting real world feedback. Toyota already had a big stumble. It will be interesting to see who actually figures out how to bring the reliability up once a turbo or two is added.

Agreed and it's why myself and many others are waiting to see. On one hand it's Toyota. If anyone is going to get it right you would expect it to be them. And being last to market allowed them to learn from everyone else. There was the issue with the Tundra but it was just mistake in the factory line, essentially, and not a design flaw. They also identified the issue and offered the best fix possible: entirely new engine.
It might be the next best thing but I'll wait to see and let those with more money test it out for me

So I have started to become somewhat of a menace in my local car sales community. In messaging back and forth with some of these dealers I have found some are particularly arrogant. They immediately push you coming in and attempting to pose as some form of financial advisor. I say upfront all that matters here is the sales price and secondarily, I would be curious as to what you would offer for my current vehicle, to which I will also inform them of my current best offer. But all I want is the final price, taxes, and fees, on your paper.

I would say about 40% of guys just give it to you. They are smart. They say here you go, of course we still need to take a look at the truck and if you want to finance there are some rebates to bring the price down, but here are the numbers you wanted.

To those that don't I tell them that my time has been wasted for no reason and then exactly how. One guy had his manager text me and he was all helpful and when I asked for the max trade value pending inspection he said ok and I never heard back again.

I was just telling a buddy. My first 10 years working were in some sales variant role, often 100% commission. I was good, never the best, but I always understood the product and the mechanics of what makes a sale work. If ironically I could sell my past sales skills along with my current business analysis skills, I bet I could turn some of these fucking dumpster fires around.

I have zero question in my mind these coked up losers are blowing deals fucking left and right for a whole host of ridiculous reasons. Find me the talent and I could build a process that moves cars, I guarantee it.

So I've learned in all this that the Tacoma is absolutely cooked. Any Tacoma made after they went to Mexico is in stock everywhere. Dealers around me have dozens of them, new and used, just sitting. I've got a dealer trying to sell me a 2024 Gold Certified for 35k. He just dropped it 500 more out of the blue trying to get me to call back.

Ive come close on a Colorado but the guy kept playing little games to get me to come in and to provide information he doesnt need. Plus I guess I am not super impressed with what I read about their 2.7. Im sure its fine, but it gets pretty shitty gas mileage. Took a crack at a couple Frontiers but it was just a hassle dealing with the sales people.

Ive found a really nice 25 Ranger with the 2.3, which now comes with port injection. I believe that was the one strike against this motor was that it was direct injection previously but otherwise one of the more durable Ecoboosts. Good fuel economy, good towing, nice clean look to it.

Beyond fair offer on my trade. Its one of the lower priced models in the country. Seems like a good deal.

Those Frontiers are decent little rigs. I tried to talk myself into one but I'm just too tall/lanky. Otherwise I'd own one.
