Is it worth buying a car with a 'new reconditioned engine' or nah?

Guys claiming it was done by WV polo specialist and has the documents, receipts and warranty to prove it. Im not really a car guy so I don't know have a clue Any help? Or shall I look elsewhere

Edit: Literally only 106 miles on the clock so if it's legit essentially brand new car.

I'm not really a car guy I can ask my cousin he'd have a better idea cos he's a mechanic.

If it's only got 106 miles on the clock what was the reason for reconditioning the engine?? Or is that the miles the reco engine has done??

Either way I wouldn't touch a car that doesn't a) come with roadworthy b) doesn't come with warranty.

I'll hit up my cuz and get back to you soon as possible mate. Hope it helps

Just spoke to him mate, he said he's not really sure about reco engines hasn't really come across that many but he doesn't really see a problem and if it comes with warranty then your covered for that time being.

Pretty much was a captain obvious but he did say he wouldn't go thrashing the arse off it.

Miles on car?

Warranty details on engine?

Cost between this and the same without new engine?

Less than 500 so is he knowledgeable that he is still breaking in new engine properly?

I have and will buy cars with rebuilt engines. But details matter.

Personally I would avoid the car. I would prefer a higher mileage car with verified maintenance history that hasn't shown major problems. Knowing this already had an issue, it always makes you wonder if a. The problem was not solved and b. Was the engine inferior to start. If this were a car from the 60's or 70's and it had a rebuilt engine, it would be different. All that being said, if this was rebuilt by the manufacturer and comes with a 3 year warranty, it may be worth it, depending upon price. The negative side is it would be on the history of the car when you go to resell and then the next buyer is questioning the situation as you are. If it was rebuilt by "some shop" that happens to offer a warranty for their work, will this shop still be in business in another year or two? Will they truly honor their warranty? Is the warranty truly 100% transferable? Will they claim the problem is a new problem? Red flags galore, in my opinion.

He didn't say in the description why he replaced the engine, which makes me wonder if any of the other parts of the car are faulty. Im hearing a difference in opinion on this, I probably meet him in person on Friday/Saturday just don't want to get mugged buying a dodgy car. Im having second thoughts now

I hate his description.

I'd pass.

He had the bottom and top remachined because of it a mechanical failure that wrecked one or both.

The new stuff is required new with a rebuild.

A new car does not an engine rebuild make. You are only looking at about 1500-2000 USD in work, less if his buddy did it.

A couple of new axles can run you that much when factoring in labor.

Pass.

Fucking corsa.bwa. haha

These vw guys are into this kinda shit. I know a few guys that have tried to make their polo as fast as ferraris. It's nuts. If you are not one of those guys I'd avoid one that just got a rebuild personally.

However don't let that scare you off, if I rebuilt my car engine I'd be happy. Never done it tho.

You guys are wiser than me. Especially when it comes to car stuff. Some people were telling me if done properly it's like having a new car which caught my interest.

Yeah I'll probably pass and look for something else.

Thanks for your input anyway guys.
