Been speaking to Apico @Apico a bit this evening and he couldn't be a nicer guy. Bellator has a gem on their hands from both a fighting & personality perspective. He will be fighting in their Featherweight division.

For those of you that may not be familiar with Aaron, below are some of his accomplishments.
  • He only wrestled his Freshman year in High School, went 43-0 & won the state championship.
  • He was also named the P4P top wrestler in America by the National High School Coaches Association.
  • In 2016, he got as close to making the Olympic team as you can get, without actually making it. Lost in overtime of the final match of the trials.
  • Crazy Bob Cook called him the greatest MMA prospect he's ever seen.
  • Scott Coker has called him MMA's next great superstar
  • He's also a Golden Gloves champ w/ some serious hands.

Wow. Tell him thanks for taking the time to hang with us. Much appreciated and can't wait to see him debut with Bellator :)

I remember reading that you wanted to be a two division champion- is that still the plan, and if so, which division first?

Excited to see this guy in action. Been hearing about him for a few years now. Expect big things.

Ask him which he likes to do more, Box or Wrestle?

Tell him its nice to see up and coming guys like him who are both skilled grapplers aswell as strikers.

Hes the future.

Aaron -

Can you tell us why you chose to only wrestle one year in high school?

What decisions were you weighing when deciding whether to attend college, or pursue other opportunities?

Why did you choose to sign with Bellator? Were other promotions trying to sign you?

How have your dealings with Bellator & Scott Coker have been?

When do you think your first fight will be? How excited are you for that moment?

Thanks again for signing up & agreeing to this Q&A. We hope you'll interact on the forums from time to time.

Welcome Aaron, thanks for taking time out to do this q and a

Who is your idol?

If you had a chance to go back in time, of all the greats the sport of wrestling has produced, who would you choose as dream opponent?

Aaron - How many fights do you think it will take for you to get comfortable under the lights, experience in big fights, comfortable overcoming uncomfortable circumstances, etc...before you foresee yourself being ready for title contention? I know that's probably hard to predict but I think every elite athlete has a pretty good idea of where they stack up, before they enter competition.

Where did you train pankration at? How is it different than mma?

How many fights do you plan on taking before you start wrestling for the Olympics?

Do you ever find you feel overtrained? Do you feel some days you haven't pushed hard enough? Do you use any science to determine fatigue/freshness?

Despite enjoying training as mma what particular sport do you love to watch outside of combat sports? What sports viewing makes you grab a beer no matter what.

Aaron - What lessons have you learned from watching other high caliber wrestlers who have transitioned to MMA?

Can you recall a time where a failure or short coming taught you an important lesson? Doesn't have to be fight specific.

Have you seen the trailer for the new Lego Ninjago movie trailer? Based on this are you considering a name change to drop the first a in your name?

welcome, Aaron!

excited to follow your career

you obviously are well versed in wrestling, and i noticed that you have a boxing background. sprawl and brawl is often a fan pleasing strategy. but as a fan of JJ, curious what your background and goals are related to the submission game. would love to see you take someone down, beat him up, make him give you his back, and sink in the RNC

Did you have any background before you started wrestling? That's a pretty incredible record for someone who only wrestled one year.

We know your impressive wrestling and boxing credentials; how are you finding the other aspects of MMA? Eg, jiu-jitsu, cage work, S&C etc.

Is there anyone on Bellator you'd specifically like to fight?

Aaron good luck in your Bellator career and hope to see you do well.

Have you had oportunities to train with Matt Lindland? If so, what were your impressions?

Hey Aaron! Nice of you to join us!!

How did you decide to get into MMA? You definitely have the resume for it, which makes me think it must've been in your head for a while. Is there a single moment you thought that you'd like to fight for a living?

Would you be up to trying out for the olympics again?

Looking forward to seeing you fight, give em hell!

In high school I had a teammate who was extremely talented and wrestled at a very high level and if I remember correctly was on the US junior national teams one point.

He was extremely arrogant and not as talented as you.

Question is, I understand you are humble person.....how do you keep so humble?
