I need to be a little thin on details for now but am looking at some medical mission work that would take me into a jungle atmosphere to live and train some local tribes on basic medicine and medic type work.

I've gone off the radar for a week at a time but this would be about a month in the jungle. Food and shelter with locals but it's pretty thin living.

Suggested internet forums and other sites to learn?
Done something like this and know pitfalls?

I'd like to turn in my application for moderator now.
I can work 7 days a week from 12pm-1pm.
I just need to stay away from computer screens, I get headaches.
Other than that, no restrictions.

Here's a public declaration that if I die in the jungle on this trip, you can split my admin spot with IschKabibble @IschKabibble

I've done 10 days. Not in the jungle though.

Sounds like a cool adventure. Keep your feet dry!

FYI. This was sort of a joke. You won't be able to keep your feet dry.

I would choose jungle footwear as your first research subject.

Followed closely by insect repellent . :)

The jungle aspect is new to me too. Hot and wet. Different than usual.

I have Backcountry experience in the desert. And some basic military experience in the same. Nothing that impressive, and even then, seldom more than a half day's walk from help.

I will definitely be posting some pictures and experience when I'm done.

IllI try some of the thru-hiker forums for the Appalachian and Pacific Crest Trail and things like that. At least get in the ballpark for standard resources.

whiteblaze.net is a good resource. More AT stuff, but there are some knowledgeable, friendly people there.

I agree with Hauler @Hauler - dry feet/good footwear, and repellent. Maybe study up on local poisonous/venomous plants and animals to familiarize yourself with what to avoid.

Other than that, you just need good jungle shirt
