I agree- I've already checked out some in-house tournies and it seems legit. I went to another school in Beaverton that was just starting out and wasn't quite organized enough. They had an OK striking class, but I never got to spar, and the only grappling was gi.No, but if Renzo's name is on the building the black belt is probably pretty legit.
You train at Renzo's? The noon class was awesome. Aaron was really cool. Had a great time. I paid for the year.@peter_weyland
Yes. Aaron is an amazing guy, incredibly knowledgeable and humble. If he's still doing the Sunday Tournament, go enter and have a blast.
Also recommend Nate and Phil at 10th Planet and Chris at Nemesis (if you haven't been).
In Beaverton, I'd skip 5 Rings and swing by Impact. Their wrestling coach is a stud, and they're a fun group of guys to roll with.
I have been to a few Renzos in NJ and yes all of them are legit. He def doesnt cookie cutter it when it comes to his places. Still the best one is in NYC.No, but if Renzo's name is on the building the black belt is probably pretty legit.
Your mind will want to do things your body wont be able to do yet. The good thing is that your mind is stronger and your control over your body will start to pick up and you might even be better at some point. What is funny is that at a young age I knew what would and could happen if I ever stopped being an "athlete" so I always made sure no matter what that I still maintained everything. I still made sure I played hockey as much as I could, or lifted weights or kickboxing and BJJ. The sucky thing is when you go a few years without it, its hard to tell yourself to just relax and take the time to get it back. Im trying to get back into hockey now and damn its hard because i have not been doing it for at least 5 years. Also I dont have the time do dedicate to it which really sucks because I want to do it badly lol. I would need to practice 4 times a week to get back to what i was in about 6 months but I can only manage 1 maybe 2 times a week and that will not cut it.Starting over at 38 is proving to be much more humbling than starting at 16...
I believe it. I'll make it there one of these days.I have been to a few Renzos in NJ and yes all of them are legit. He def doesnt cookie cutter it when it comes to his places. Still the best one is in NYC.
I started at 46 after a 5 year layoff. Seriously humbling. I'm just now starting to feel like my old self 2 years later.Starting over at 38 is proving to be much more humbling than starting at 16...
That's exactly where I'm at, yeah. Good to know I'm not the only one.Your mind will want to do things your body wont be able to do yet.
