...fly? What part of his creation (vibranium used in a human DNA template, which would obviously not work) gives him the power to defy gravity?

Also... How can he change his density? What gives him the ability to phase through objects? Man, the more I think about this film...

From Vision (Marvel Comics) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Powers and abilities
The Vision is described as being "...every inch a human being—except that all of his bodily organs are constructed of synthetic materials."[39] The Solar Jewel on the Vision's forehead absorbs ambient solar energy to provide the needed power for him to function, and he is also capable of discharging this energy as optic beams; with this, he can fire beams of infrared and microwave radiation. In extreme cases he can discharge this same power through the Solar Jewel itself which amplifies its destructive effects considerably, albeit at the cost of losing most of his resources. The Vision also possesses the ability to manipulate his density, which at its lowest allows flight and a ghostly, phasing intangibility, and at its heaviest provides superhuman strength, immovability, and a diamond-hard near invulnerability. The Vision is capable of reaching a density ten times greater than that of depleted uranium.[40] On one occasion, the Vision uses this extreme durability to render unconscious the villain Count Nefaria.[41] The Vision often uses his ability to alter his density against foes, by phasing an intangible hand through them and then partially re-materializing it—a process he describes as "physical disruption." This effect typically causes great pain and results in incapacitation, as is the case when used against the Earth-712 version of the hero Hyperion.[42] Being an artificial life-form/android of sorts, the Vision possesses multiple superhuman senses—as well as superhuman stamina, reflexes, speed, agility, and strength (even without being at high density). The Vision was trained in unarmed combat by Captain America, and is an expert in the combat use of his superhuman powers. The Vision is an expert on his own construction and repair, and is a highly skilled tactician and strategist. The Vision controls his density by interfacing with an unknown dimension to/from which he can shunt or accrue mass, thus becoming either intangible or extraordinarily massive. The Vision also possesses superhuman analytical capabilities, and has the ability to process information and make calculations with superhuman speed and accuracy.

After the Age of Ultron event Vision joins the Avengers A.I. team where his "evolve" protocols were activated and now his body is formed from millions of nanobots.[volume & issue needed]

The Vision of the Young Avengers is able to use Iron Lad's neuro-kinetic armor to recreate the former Vision's abilities, including strength, density manipulation, and flight. The yellow solar cell on the Vision's forehead can also emit a beam of infrared and microwave radiation. The Vision is also capable of energy and holographic manipulation, shapeshifting and time travel.

Really, it seems it's not truely revealed how. Difficult tracking down this answer. Hope this helps more than nothing though.

Density Manipulation: The Vision's body has been saturated with special cybernetically activated cells which are capable of interfacing with some unknown dimension with which he can shunt or accrue particles of mass. Thus the Vision is able to control his density and solidity. By shunting a non-critical portion of his body's molecules away from him, he can become a weightless, transparent, intangible wraith, unable to be touched by solid matter. By accruing extradimensional mass and fortifying his body with it, he can make his body extremely hard and durable to the point where it is immune to most types of damage.

  • Superhuman Strength: His base strength is above human, and increasing his density will increase his strength, to a maximum of 50 tons.
  • Superhuman Durability: He can become extraordinarily massive and harder than diamond. At maximum mass, the Vision weighs about 90 tons.
  • Intangibility: The Vision can use his density control offensively by attaining minimum density (intangibility). Passing a part of all of his body within another living being and ever so slightly increasing his density (tangibility). Even increasing his density to one half ounce (14.25 grams) is sufficient to cause the organism he passes through excruciating pain, a shock to the nervous system, and unconsciousness. Were he to become any more dense than one half ounce the shock would probably kill the other organism if the organic damage was not extensive enough to kill the other organism in itself. Accordingly, the Vision employs this power with extreme caution.
  • Flight: When at a minimum mass, the Vision can fly through the air weightlessly. It is not known how the Vision performs this task. He may be able to maneuver and gain speed by drawing power from the Earth's magnetic field to some degree. When he does however, he is capable of passing through solid matter and reaching high speeds; it took Wonder Man (Simon Williams) some time to catch him. He can carry passengers while remaining solid on the outside, but he is not likely to fly as fast as he normally does. It is either the weight of the passenger that prevents him from doing so or he simply views it as "unsafe" for the passenger. There does not appear to be any limit to the time he can remain in any given altered state of density.

Cheers for the posts but none of them answer the question.

Also, what makes him worthy?

Theories:

He is a synthetic humanoid. Like they said in the movie, he is an artificial being so Mjolnir doesn't register it as a being trying to wield it.

He was powered by Mjolnir, thus transferring some small part of the hammer's enchantment to him.

The Mind stone in some way allows this, yet unknown.

He is a being dedicated solely to the preservation of life, and hasn't had any experiences that would give him opportunity to make a choice that would deem him unworthy.

His powers of density manipulation allow him to phase out the hammer. If Mjolnir's had the majority of itself shunted into another pocket dimension temporarily it would weaken the enchantment.
