Tbf he's probably never met a redneck in his life. Just what he's seen in TV. I've known both types. The one's you describe and the stereotypical daddy rich suburban "cowboy" all kickered out with an oversized hunting/fishing truck that hasn't seen a day of work in it's life(the truck). Honestly, they're both nice enough type of folk. I had more fun with the prior. They could give a fuck about putting a dent or scratch in their truck and we're wild as could be. The latter just wanted to party jock style which was fun, too but wasn't as fun as going fishing for reals. I've also known hillbillies and they were just dirt poor and had to work at their dad's farm all the time. That guy's explanation of hillbillies vs rednecks is just wrong. Rednecks typically don't have loud trucks or act the way he described. The teenagers might, but most teenagers are dumb anyway.
Rednecks tend to have 4x4 trucks that are pretty sensible given the area they live in, hunt/fish/farm/garden most of their food, fix things themselves when they break mostly regardless of what it is (vehicle, appliances, water heater, the roof, the fence, heck the entire house, etc.), help their family, friends, and neighbors and get the same from them, will be the first to backup those around them whether it be physical, mental, financial, or just a friendly thing to do. People look out for themselves and help others whenever they can.
There's more but the guy in that video is just wrong.
Not giving a fuck about scratching your truck is definitely true. Half the time you're driving through the woods to get to a good hunting or fishing spot.
