Penn's introverted training routine in Hawaii didn't appear to be doing him justice years ago and it's exactly why he's joined up with Greg Jackson and his elite camp in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

"The plan is 100 percent to stay in Albuquerque the whole way," Penn told UFC commentators Kenny Florian and Jon Anik on their podcast. "It's not fair to myself and my family for me to go and not take this as serious as it is. These people are hungry and tough. These people will knock you out if you mess around. There's no way I'm going to train anywhere else if I'm going to step in the ring. I'm here the whole way."

Penn contacted Jackson in late December to discuss a possible comeback. A visit to Jackson's morphed into a solid commitment and now Penn is about three weeks into his first training camp in years.

Penn is already feeling the effects of training at altitude in Albuquerque, but seems more excited about the diverse group of training partners now available to him.

"They're really trying to evolve me and take me to a new level," said Penn. "Everybody's got a pretty good idea of what B.J. Penn is coming with. I think they're really trying to expand my arsenal. They're improving my cardio, my strength, too, but I really think they're expanding my arsenal.

"Greg looks at this like a three, four, five-fight thing but I'm not letting this guy standing across from me beat me. I think they're in this for the long haul."

Damn it! I was doing so good at keeping my expectations and excitement in check. It's starting to slip into full blown, nutt-swinging, fanboyness. BJ has been my favorite fighter for a very long time, but his last few fights and "comebacks" have made me leery of getting too excited when he fights. That said, a couple more positive sounding interviews and maybe a good looking training video and I'll lose all hope of keeping myself in check. When he actually fights, I'll either be elated for a few days or sink into the dark depths of extreme depression for a couple of days. There is no middle ground for me when it comes to a Baby Jay fight.

It's one or the other extreme. Won't be a happy middle of "oh he tried his best" lmfao

Its a bummer something like this couldn't have happened earlier. BJ is a legend regardless...but I think this is a great move. Not only do I think Jackson'Winkeljohn have great coaches when it comes to technique, etc., but I think they have the best overall approach to game-planning and shit like that.

Excited but a little nervous to see what BJ brings this time around.

BJ is going to fuck Siver up if that fight happens. Then let the hype begin.

Expect Rogan to bust his nuts all over the cage when BJ throws the first oblique kick.

Tell him he should fight for the title if he beats Siver. Hopefully he'll like that idea.
BJ Penn ain't championship material anymore.

Mcgregor koed the long-time champ in 13 seconds :p whether he took a route to the title that you approve of or not is irrelevant.
They put the best guy against Aldo and that title changed hands.
