No.
It's to win & not break your hands.
The wild action will do just that and has.
The circular ring, aka "squared circle", is likely more a marketing gimmick than anything, like the octagon.

I have a fighting organization I'm starting up called closet fighting. I will put 2 fighters into a closet, with clothes hanging, shoes on the floor, everything, then they will fight. I will have an overhead camera only, and every so often I will turn of the lights in the closet for 15 seconds. It's going to be huge.
