Something's not adding up here.

Josh Thompson made $10k in purse money. He said he made $35k in sponsors, so that's $45k total.

He made $85k to SHOW + $5k in Reebok money, in his last UFC fight.

Was the UFC's offer that horrible when his contract ran out? $20k/$20k + $5k in Reebok money would net him what he just made in Bellator. Or do you all think he just wanted to go fight for Coker?

There's always talk about how the disclosed pay isn't what UFC fighters are really making a lot of the times. I suspect that's the case here with Josh. I highly doubt it's just 10k.

Wow, kinda bummed to see guys like King Mo and Thompson only pulling in 15k and 10k.

I don't mind Tito getting his big money. The guy did a lot for the sport in carrying the UFC during the "dark years". Just wish there was more of that money to go around for everyone else...

It's a shame. Everyone talks so much about how the UFC and MMA have killed boxing, but boxers seem to be getting much more money because they have much more bargaining power.

I see boxers who are barely in the top 10 of their divisions pulling in a 1 mil, 1.5, 2 mil, ect, headlining a free show on NBC. Then I see Mighty Mouse, a champ who is a consensus top 3 p4p in the sport, pulling in 200k after main eventing a PPV.

Coker has always had some weird contracts.
I wouldnt think so either. It just wouldn't make any sense, and Josh seemed thrilled about his Bellator deal.
Coker has always had a few weird contracts in the past so this doesn't really surprise me.

There was an event where Mousasi's disclosed pay was $2,000 and one where Matt Lindland's disclosed pay was only $1,000.

I wonder if sometimes they just front-load contracts via a signing bonus and then just random numbers to cover the medicals for the fight itself?

That's very possible and something that I didn't think of. Give Josh a $150k signing bonus for 3 fights (just throwing a # out there) and then pay him $10k per fight, or whatever. Makes sense.

Pribably did the same for the guy that gets 1750

I'm gonna suggest he got 80 grand though, he's obviously not a greedy man

Again it's the same issue with the UFC then, the 'Undisclosed" bonus doesn't show what's really going on and how much fighters truly make. It's all just speculation. We don't know if Josh IS making the same coin with Bellator. The UFC certainly didn't want to re-sign him and wanted The Punk to retire. That is a hard pill to swallow for any fighter, Josh could of just said he was making the same or more with Bellator to the media to make it seem he still has worth in peoples eyes and to make it seem like it was more on his terms. Again just a thought. In the end this just shows that it's not just the UFC that needs to start paying fighters more dollars and there has to be and end to this disgressionary bonus system so that there is a level playing field for negotiation with fighter contracts.
