Bellator MMA's first international weigh-in went off without a hitch Friday afternoon inside the Turin Palace Hotel in
Torino, Italy. The Viacom owned promotion is set to take
The Pala Alpitour by storm tomorrow afternoon as it looks to showcase some of its most seasoned veterans in addition to new talent which will serve as the backbone of the promotion in both Bellator MMA and Bellator Kickboxing headed into the future.
“Bellator 152: Pitbull vs. Campos” airs on
SPIKE Saturday,
April 16 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, while the debut of
“Bellator Kickboxing: Torino” will be televised
Friday,
April 22 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT, immediately following the broadcast of
“Bellator 153: Koreshkov vs. Henderson” on
SPIKE.
The main event of
Bellator 152 sees longtime Bellator lightweight contender and promotional veteran
Patricky "Pitbull" Freire (15-7) test his steely resolve on short notice against late replacement Edmilson "Kevin" Souza (15-4). Souza is filling in for an injured
Derek Campos who was pulled from the bout less than one week ago. "Pitbull" looks to secure another emphatic win over a tough
UFC veteran in
Souza in order to stake his claim as next in line at Bellator lightweight gold. Freire was most recently seen in action dismantling
Ryan Couture by KO at
Bellator 148 in late January.
Also headlining the card in the co-main event will be none other than the most recognizable face of Italian combat sports,
Alessio Sakara (17-11). Sakara has made no qualms about his desire to down Ohio native
Brian Rogers (12-8) in spectacular KO fashion as his countrymen look on and cheer his name inside the arena.
Rogers, on the other hand, looks to string his second win together as he searches for consistency at light heavyweight in an attempt to keep his momentum rolling in 2016 and lay claim to the coveted title of "2016 Comeback Fighter of the Year."
Also in action will be featherweight sensation
A.J. McKee who looks to show the Italian fans in attendance why he is one of the most promising young talents in the Bellator portfolio in recent memory. Riding three straight first round finishes and embodying the new breed mentality, McKee looks to put the featherweight division on notice that there is a hungry, young lion on the prowl within the division.
Not to be outdone by her male competitors, showcasing a budding Bellator women's
flyweight division will be Russian Muay Thai champion
Anastasia Yankova (2-0). The Russian striker aims to put both beauty and brawn on full display as she looks to dispatch opponent
Anjela Pink who is making her Bellator promotional debut in Torino.
