Paul Redmond is open to a permanent move to Bellator


The Paul Redmond addition to Friday night’s Bellator 187 card in Dublin was greeted warmly by the Irish MMA masses after the UFC veteran scored a decision win over Lukasz Chlewicki at KSW 40 three weeks ago.

Although Redmond is best known for competing in the featherweight and lightweight categories, with the call from Bellator coming so late and so close to his last outing, he felt it was better to organize a catchweight for his meeting with Sergio de Jesus Santos.

“I didn’t have hair out of place from the KSW fight,” Redmond told MMAFighting.com.

“I was in great condition, I didn’t go out and have the usual blow out that other fighters have after a camp. I had a little bit of birthday cake and that was pretty much it.

I like the UFC's idea of only giving the major numbers to PPV events (I think FN events are also numbered but not in the UFC's promotional material, which usually only mentions the city).

I guess Bellator doesn't do enough big events for this, though.

Anyway, this event thread won't get 400 posts, even if TheEmperorRises @TheEmperorRises makes 300 of them.

This show is the equivalent of a Strikeforce Challengers show. Also, it's not really for us. As long as they sell out the arena and continue to build brand awareness in Dublin, they'll consider it a success.

I’m going to stay up for this but the likelihood of me even knowing what is going on at that point in the night will probably mean I don’t watch one fight

If I were Bellator. I would've thrown Mitrione in the main event against a scrub. He's been begging for a fight and would've been good seeing a heavyweight fight main event.
