Another GLORY alum is making his way to the big MMA stage.

On Tuesday, Bellator president Scott Coker announced the signing of Robin van Roosmalen. Coker also indicated that van Roosmalen, who held GLORY titles at both lightweight and featherweight, could be part of Bellator’s 145-pound tournament (via Twitter).

Roosmalen just announced his full-time transition from kickboxing to MMA last December, but he’s already got two pro MMA bouts on his record. And so far, so good: He finished both of them at Final Fight Championship (FFC) in impressive fashion.

At FFC 22, in February 2016, Roosmalen scored a second-round knockout of Theo Michailidis. In March 2017, at FFC 28, he kept his streak with a first-round knockout of Risto Dimitrov.

Despite his short MMA record, Roosmalen (2-0) said in an interview with ESPN last year that he had been training in the sport for five years. At the time, the 29-year-old fighter from the Netherlands was representing Hard Knocks 365 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Roosmalen is in good company when it comes to GLORY alumni on the big MMA stage. Interim middleweight champion Israel Adesanya competed for the promotion, as well as UFC light heavyweight Gokhan Saki and Bellator’s own Joe Schilling.

Bellator’s featherweight tournament, according to the latest info from Coker, is set to kick off in October and will include 16 fighters.

Petrosyan is fighting mma? He just fought at ONE kickboxing FW tournament and lost to Thai clinch rapist Petmorakot Petchyindee (but ONE overturned the decision and made it a no-contest for no fuckin' reason). Holzken fought in the same event and got his ass kicked by fellow dutchman Regian Eersel. Glory indeed has been running a very slow schedule in the last months. Last show was on the same day as the ONE tournament and Marat Grigorian beat longtime LW champion Sittichai (he'd lost four times to Sittichai before but Glory kept matching them up until Marat finally won).

Fun fact is that Yodsanklai Fairtex, Petrosyan and Sittichai had three losses combined in the last 7 years and they all lost in the same day. Overall Glory has an embarrassingly shallow roster and just when I was starting to take ONE seriously they pulled one of the biggest shitshows I've ever seen in combat sports history. Kickboxing does pay like shit and it's probably more profitable to be a journeyman in mma than an elite kickboxer. Plus they all see a mid level guy like Adesanya getting 100k and more at ufc and they can only think "fuck I can do that too"

He is going to have a hard time selling tickets since the casual mma fan has no clue who he is.

I predict him getting double legged all day every day. Dutch style kickboxing doesn't really transform well to MMA

I have never heard of this guy but Bellator, business-wise, should be going after these lesser-known fighters who put on exciting fights, rather than trying to outbid the UFC on highly paid guys.
