Bellator fighter Jordan Parsons' career is likely over after being hit by a motor vehicle in Del Ray, Florida on Sunday morning.

Parsons, a featherweight affiliated with the Blackzilians, had the bottom half of his right leg amputated after he was apparently the victim of an apparent hit-and-run incident.

As of Sunday afternoon, he's listed in critical condition at Del Ray Medical Center.

Parsons, a Michigan native who had an 11-2 record (2-1 Bellator), was scheduled to fightAdam Piccolotti at Bellator 154 in San Jose on May 14.

That sucks, he showed some potential when he fought Bubba Jenks. Hope they catch the AHole that committed the hit and run.

That's shitty, fuck riding a bike and relying on people not to be morons.

Just read the news, unbelievable. Imagine how devastating it must be to be training for a fight one day, then Having your leg and career taken the next. Wow.

Horrible news. Hopefully all the training will help him to continue to live a full and active life.

Not sure it applies to this case, but on the subject of bicycles.....

I have a friend who is militant about bikes having the same right of way as cars on the roads. Rides around on roads and gets mad when drivers of cars don't treat him as an equal. I just repeat this little ditty to him:

"Tom was dead right. He is just as dead as if he had been dead wrong."

30lb, 35mph top speed vehicles that can stop on dime and 4000lb vehicles that travel 65mph that take 150ft to stop should not be anywhere near each other.

Motorcycles have some of the same issues, but not nearly as bad because they can move at the same speeds as the cars. I've known a lot of people turned into blood spots or have had their limbs amputated who ride motorcycles, though. They are dangerous, no two ways about it.

Yes they are but what makes them more dangerous is the valium riddled housewife he pulls out in front of them at an intersection because she wasn't paying attention and didn't see the bike. Most people who own motor bikes are skilled drivers it attracts that type, but regardless of skill you are at the mercy of the least skilled person you meet on the road any time you're out.

Agreed, that's what I was saying. Really doesn't matter how skilled a bike rider you are. The things are death traps, *mostly* because they are sharing the road with much larger vehicles. I've known one person who was turned into a collection of random body parts because they hit a car. Another who died after the "housewife pulling out in front of them" scenario you just pointed out.

But I also know someone else who lost a leg because of some gravel on a corner.... that's just an inherent issue with riding on only two wheels.

Bikes are like tattoos. Enjoy them, but don't be surprised or get angry when other people fuck you over because of them.

Shitty story. That would be devastating to anyone, but even worse for an athlete. Hope he is able to recover physically and emotionally and find a new career/life path.
