General Beyond meat...

Maybe a year ago, my daughter got a package of Beyond Meat because it had been significantly discounted & she wanted to try it. When she got home, I was already making something in the kitchen, so I offered to cook it for her.

I opened the package and couldn't believe just how much it smelled like dog food. I don't mean it smelled bad or whatever. I mean you know when you finish opening a can of dog food and pull the lid off, that smell you get? That's exactly what this stuff was like.

Ironically (or maybe not), it also had the exact same consistency as canned dog food, too. I guess I was expecting it to be like ground beef or ground turkey.

Perhaps what surprised me the most was that it didn't change color when I cooked it. It was this dingy grey when I opened the package, and it stayed the same dingy grey during and after I cooked it. Looking back, I guess that makes sense, but I would expecting it to change color in same fashion like would happen if you were cooking ground beef, ground chicken, ground turkey, sausage, etc.

Finished, poured it into a bowl, and tried one small bite. After the smell, consistency, & color...the taste pretty much lived up to what you'd expect.

My daughter tried a bite & hated it so much, I just threw the bowl out into the woods behind the house to feed the wild critters.

I hope none of them got sick from it. There's probably a squirrel, stray cat, & two crows who all perished and their lives are now unknowingly on my conscience.

The smell was disgusting

I'm sure the free samples ruined the reputation before anybody even bought a package. If someone bought some after already smelling it they need their head checked.
