I don't know why, but this fight is really intriguing to me. BJ is a badass, but has become such a slower and one-dimensional striker. Hall's stand-up is pretty basic and non-threatening. They each have incredible BJJ bases, but vastly different styles. It doesn't make sense, but I'll tune in.

Would make a better jiu-jitsu match.

BJ is great but continuing to fight is the wrong choice imo.

Yeah, I'd prefer the grappling match too. I would love to see the UFC put a single-discipline fight on every undercard. Boxing, wresting, point karate, whatever. It would be fun for the fans an a nice additional paycheck for fighters who don't have an MMA fight lined-up.

Ryan can't take him down or outstrike him so this is a favorable match up for BJ...

Song2, I think you are a good poster and member, so please know I’m asking this with the utmost respect, but is there any way you can switch your avatar. That thing is giving me nightmares.

Thanks friend. It’s better, but still disturbing. Definitely a step in the right direction! Much appreciated (on behalf of all of TMMAC)

This is actually a good match up for BJ...or at least I hope it is. Hall isn’t going to batter him striking and BJ’s grappling is just as good, if not better.

Ryan hasnt mauled anyone but a drunk running his mouth in a restaurant. I like the guy but let’s not act like he’s McGregor on the feet.

No but imo Ryan Hall's striking is pretty much the definition of "underrated". I think he can take BJ, but if BJ insists on fighting, this is a great compromise in that he probably won't ko him.

Yes, lets send BJ off with a proper retirement on a win.

Designed for BJ to win... I love Ryan Hall, and I could see him wanted to test his BJJ acumem against Penn... And even though he's lost more than a couple of steps, BJ's striking is world's better than Hall, and he wouldn't be afraid of getting taken down and mailed.... I actually like this fight, the only thing that would make it better is if it were in Hawaii and a announced retirement fight for BJ

Not a good fight for BJ. I predict a terrible kickboxing match instead of the grappling war we would all love to see.

there's no money in a BJ win, it's in UFC's interest for Hall to win.

It's in the UFC's interest, to have a guy that they haven't given a fight to in over a year, to win over a legend?

Even if it is a kickboxing match, who is the better kickboxer? I'm not sure how this is a bad matchup for Penn.... Hall is no spring chicken, has great BJJ (but so does BJ), and not nearly the striking skills..... Again, I'm a big fan of Ryan Hall the BJJ athlete, but I don't like this matchup for him the MMA fighter.
